Introduction

A message from Alex Wood, Bristol Public Health Editor of the What’s On Guide 0787 681 4573 [email protected]

Greetings and a warm welcome to our Winter What’s on Guide 2014. We couldn’t be more excited to have so much on offer over the following months! Please take some time to get to know the layout of our magazine. You will notice we have clustered schools, community venues, and churches to make it easier to flick through. It has been a super summer, we have seen the opening of our brand new purpose built community centre called The Hub (page 8). Work on Gainsborough Square continues, although ‘we’re nearly there’, and Boing! Soft Play (page 22) has a brand new home. We congratulate North Bristol Advice Centre (page 12) for their 30 years’ service to Lockleaze and surrounding areas. We would like to thank United Communities (page 5) for kindly sponsoring this edition of What’s on. You can find out up to date information on the Facebook group: Love Lockleaze We set out to show case everything Lockleaze & Horfield have to offer, however we have still not fully met that challenge. If you have events and groups running please let us know and we’ll include you in the Spring edition of What’s On.

Horfield and Lockleaze Neighbourhood Partnership and Forum meetings

All Welcome

Have you heard that there is a place you can come to raise concerns and share ideas for improvements in your local community? You are very welcome to come to your local Neighbourhood Forum.

The Neighbourhood Forums are a friendly and informal place to meet with other residents, ward councillors, council officers and your local police team: find out about things that are going on in your community and work together with other residents to improve your local neighbourhood.

Neighbourhood Partnership meetings are where decisions about the Horfield and Lockleaze area are made – a little more formal but still a warm welcome. So come along and have your say or just hear more about what’s happening locally. 6

Neighbourhood Partnerships

Neighbourhood Forums are held four times a year in each ward and Partnership meetings are held four times a year alternately between Horfield and Lockleaze.
