Dear Parents and Carers,

We have some very exciting news! The School Street Scheme will launch on 2nd September 2020. This is a short closure of the streets around the school at the start and end of the school day during term time. This will make the streets a safer, more welcoming environment for all who use it while maintaining access for residents, blue badge holders, pedestrians and cyclists.

The benefits of such a scheme are: o Significantly less traffic outside the school making it safer for families travelling to and from school o Easier/safer to cross the roads o Walking and cycling will become more appealing o Improved air quality outside the school o Quieter and calmer Who will have access to drive into the street? o Permit holders only o Residents and some blue badge holders will have access to the closed road during the timed closure o No parents or carers will be allowed to drive down the road unless they are permit holders. o Vehicles without a permit entering the scheme during operational hours will be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice What will the School Street look like? o At the entry points, there will be signs saying the road is a Pedestrian and Cycle Zone o Advance warning signs will be placed in the local area to notify drivers of the scheme o Streets will become access only, with no traffic except approved permit holders o The area will become a pedestrian and cycle zone, making it safer and more welcoming for all who use it.

The Scheme will commence on 2nd September 2020. Parts of Perimeade, Federal, Fraser and Sarsfield Roads (as marked in blue on map below) will be closed to traffic between 8.15-9.15am and 2.45-3.45pm, Monday to Friday during term time. Enforcement will be via ANPR camera. Parents will not be allowed to drive down the above-named roads between these hours without a permit. Driving through the scheme during operational hours will result in vehicles being issued with a Penalty Charge Notice.
