Policy Brief JuneJan 23 , 2019 Dr. Monika Chansoria is a 1919 Paris Peace Conference Tokyo-based Senior Visiting Fellow at The Japan Institute Centennial: Recollecting India’s of International Affairs. Representation and Participation Previously, she has held appointments at the Sandia Dr. Monika Chansoria National Laboratories (U.S.), Hokkaido University (Sapporo, The Paris Peace Conference opened on January 18, 1919, paving Japan), and Fondation Maison way for an ensuing legacy of peacemaking. Indian Army in the Ypres Salient World War – I (1914-1918) According to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, 138,000 soldiers from India were sent to Europe during the First World War. Most of these soldiers were deployed in the Ypres Salient and at nearby Neuve Chapelle in France during the period 1914-15. A very large number lost their lives in the campaign to halt the German advance. 2. The Indian Army’s involvement on the Western front started on 6 August 1914. That day, the War Council in London requested two infantry divisions and a cavalry brigade from the Viceroy's government to be sent to Egypt. On 27th August, these troops were ordered to Europe. 3. The supreme sacrifice of Indian soldiers in Europe is recorded in the major World War One memorial in continental Europe, Menin Gate, in Ypres, Belgium, and at the memorial for Indian soldiers in near-by Neuve Chappelle in France. In 2002, at the request of the Government of India, an Indian Memorial was erected on the lawn south of the Menin Gate. 4. After the war, India participated in the peace conference held in Versailles and was represented by Edwin Montague, the Secretary of State for India, Lord Satyendra Nath Sinha and His Highness Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner. The Peace Treaty of Versailles was signed by Mr. Montague and His Highness Maharaja Ganga Singh and India became an original member of the League of Nations. In 1945, when the conference to establish the United Nations Organisation was held in San Francisco, India participated and signed the Charter becoming a founding member of the United Nations. -

COLLEGE SECTOR 10 CHANDIGARH. Received: January 12, 2019 Accepted: February 24, 2019 ABSTRACT: The aim of the paper is to study Urbanization Process and Trend in Ganganagar district, Rajasthan and its impact. It also studies the urbanisation level of sub districts of Ganganagar. It traces back the emergence of Ganganagar Town from village Ramnagar which is one of the site of the oldest civilization. Population data is taken from census of India 1991, 2001 and 2011.Information is also sourced from relevant reports and available literature on urbanization, trends and processes.Graphs and tools are used to depict the trend of urbanization.Different reasons of growing population has been examined with their impact on Infrastructure and civic amenities. Key Words: HISTORY OF URBANIZATION The early Harappan sites tend to be concentrated in the eastern part of Bahawalpur, close to the Indian border, the eastern part of Ganganagar district. The distribution of the mature Harappan sites in India covers a narrow belt in the Ganganagar district of Rajasthan.Harappan sites of all periods are concentrated in a narrow south-west and north-west belt along the dry course of Ghaggar river. EMERGENCE OF NEW ERA TOWN Irrigation projects implemented by British Colonial engineers transformed environment, economy and society in the Indus basin during the late 19th and 20th century. In addition to construct canal, headworks and distributaries, colonial officers design new cities to facilitate administration and global commerce in South Asia frontier areas. -

Alwar CDECS/MI/4HLY Report/SGN&Alwar Page1 FOREWORD MDM being one of the flagship programmes taken up by Government of India with support from State Governments has addressed this fundamental problem by implementing school Mid day Meal program that provides children with at least one nutritionally adequate meal a day. Nutrition support to primary education is considered as a means to achieve the objective of providing free and compulsory universal primary education of satisfactory quality to all the children below the age of 14 years by giving a boost to Universalization of Elementary Education through increased enrollment, improved school attendance and retention and promoting nutritional status of elementary school children simultaneously. School meal programme also provides parents with a strong incentive to send children to school, thereby encouraging enrollment and reducing absenteeism and drop-out rates. School meal programme support health, nutrition, and education goals and consequently, have a multi-pronged impact on a nation’s overall social and economic development. Mid-day Meal is a popular National Flagship educational programme of our country, with the provision of cooked lunch free of cost to school-children on all school days. During the last 6 to 7 years, various kinds of activities have been conducted under this programme through out the country and every year the progress and problems relating to implementation of this programme have been analyzed and reviewed at National level allocated with some grants and manpower to conduct the programme related activities with more vigour and enthusiasm. -

She was one of the five participants who had also written books on Rajasthan. The other speakers were Aman Nath, Lloyd Rudolph, Dr. Rima Hooja, and Susanne Princess Rajyashree Kumari Bikaner seen here with Rudolph. Princess Rajyashree Mr. Aman Nath & Dr. Rima Hooja at Jaipur Literature Festiv al, Diggi Palace, Jaipur. Kumari Bikaner’s book titled “The Lallgarh Palace – Home of the Maharajas of Bikaner” was released in the 2009. “Fort and Palaces of Bikaner in Art and Photography” – Exhibition at Sri Sadul Museum – January 2011 Maharaja Ganga Singhji and Maharaja Sadul Singhji commissioned many artists to paint the Fort & Palaces of Bikaner and a fine collection exists with the Maharaja Ganga Singhji Trust as also with the members of the Bikaner Family. Some of the famous artists who were invited to Bikaner were S.G. Thakar Singh and M K Parandekar. A host of lesser known artists also reproduced charming images of the heritage properties of Bikaner in oil and water colour. More recently Maharaja Dr. Karni Singhji a keen amateur photographer took beautiful black & white and colour photographs of his properties, a selection of which are also part of this exhibition. -

During the course of year 2009 the major projects undertaken were: - “The Lallgarh Palace Home of the Maharajas of Bikaner” - Book by Princess Rajyashree Kumari of Bikaner.” This Coffee Table book evokes the romance of the H.H. Maharaja Sri Ganga Singhji rugged desert kingdom of Bikaner and its royal of Bikaner family of Bikaner.
