Set in between late 1800s to early 1900s, this movie tells the story of Haji , an Indonesian Islamic revivalist who established in 1912. As one of the growing group who regarded themselves as modernists, Ahmad Dahlan was concerned at the many Javanese practices not justified by Islamic scripture and argued for the creation of a renewed purer Islam.

Through a small mosque, Ahmad Dahlan started a movement to change the wrong direction. This however did not go without any contest from the elders Islamic teachers who “guard the tradition”. The accusation of being infidel was then intensively growing, put Ahmad Dahlan and his disciples in a very critical situation.

It tells of a passionate love triangle that leads inexorably to conflict, violence and death. Setio and his wife Siti, run a pottery business in a small village where Ludiro, a powerful and ruthless butcher, controls all the trading activities. When the couple’s business collapses, Ludiro, who has always been in love with Siti, seizes his chance, abducts and tries to seduce her. Inevitably the two men begin to fight over Siti....

Opera Jawa won the Best Composer award for Rahayu Supanggah at the inaugural Asian Film Awards. It was also one of six nominees for Best Film at the 1st Asian Film Awards and nominated for Best Feature Film at the 2007 Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

I Know What You Did on Facebook cleverly portrays current phenomenon of Facebook which appears to bring some social impacts on the younger generations. Four characters find love, friendship and betrayal on Facebook. Luna starts to see some changes of behavior on her near-future husband, Reno. Her old friend Via is getting bored with her quiet and ‘old-fashioned’ lover, Hedi. Facebook becomes the meeting point where Luna and Via attempt to revive their love life.

Set in the hustle and bustle of a big city of Jakarta, this movie attempts to honestly expose how the “Generation of Facebook” resides in two worlds: the internet and the real world. As the online world intertwined with the real one, things appear to get far more complicated than it is expected. indonesian movie week 2011 22-25 march 2011 • UA cinema times square “Indonesian Movie Week 2011” is the second Indonesian movie festival organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong SAR. This event serves as a display of Indonesian best and most current movies as well as to expose the current development of Indonesian movie industry. Driven by the similar enthusiasm of international film festival in Hong Kong, Indonesian Movie Week 2011 also aims at introducing some of latest Indonesian movies.

This year there will be 4 Indonesian movies to be shown: Sang Pencerah (The Enlightener, directed by Hanung Bramantyo), Opera Jawa (Requiem from Java, directed by Garin Nugroho), Minggu Pagi di Victoria Park (Sunday Morning at Victoria Park, directed & starred by Lola Amaria) serta I Know What You Did on Facebook (directed by Awi Suryadi).

These films will represent the current younger generation of Indonesian film directors who put their most inspiring creativity and bring fresh view and approach on their body of work. Portraying different socio- cultural issues, the four movies speak for diverse film genres.

Indonesian Movie Week 2011 is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Republic of Indonesia.
