he cutting back of 58 hectares finished on the 15th March 2012 despite a hard winter which obliged Tus to stop cutting back on certain days. Vines resisted the below normal temperatures (-12°c). At the moment we are sowing the Mediterranean Vetch. It is a leguminous plant which brings nitrogen to the soil while growing. What is particularly interesting about this plant is that it dries up when the climate is very hot. It does not present a threat to the vines. Also, the dried leaves make a mulch or straw on the soil which protect it from the strong heat of the sun, and maintains a good level DURING THIS TIME... of humidity. We re-plant the young plants by replacing the vine stock which died during the vegetative cycle of the last year. We are getting ready also to de-bud, that is to say, select the buds which we want to conserve to allow the future grapes to have all the space they need to 5 thrive and to have a balanced number of leaves per plant. Then during the month of June, we will entwine the vine #06 shoots on the wires. We are recruiting people to help us to do these tasks which will take us until mid-July.
