The QCCVB Sales Department represents and manages the QCCVB’s group sales efforts. The department attends trade shows, makes cold calls, and visits key markets in an effort to sell our region and secure new business for our area. The department works in tandem with our industry partners with the primary goal of growing the overall meetings, conventions, and sporting event market share. Our team provides differentiating, hands-on customer service to potential planners to make their jobs easier, and connect them to the wide range of services offered by our partners. This includes site selection assistance, securing hotel room blocks, transportation bids and coordination, arranging special tours, and adding value to the planner’s event.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

The Marketing & Communications Department works with media, industry partners, industry publications, and travel journalists to promote the Quad Cities as a destination for meetings, conventions, sports events, group tours, and leisure travel. The department is responsible for placing advertising, writing and sending media releases, hosting travel journalists, maintaining the QCCVB website, social media presence, email campaigns, the design of marketing materials, market research, and the production of the annual Quad Cities Activities Guide.

SPECIAL NOTE: Group Tours are a huge hit in Rock Island due to Jumer’s and their sales person Hollie’s amazing tour operator relation- ships and databases. Overall, the CVB partnered with Jumer’s to bring 1,882 group tour visitors, and 1,590 room nights during 2016/2017. The EEI value of those tours: totaled $316,176. Additionally, Jumer’s, Circa ‘21, and the Establishment Theatre all partnered to host 26 tour operators during National Tourism Week in May 2017. The cities of Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline and Rock The Travel & Tourism Island have traditionally funded the Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau (QCCVB) based on equal Industry Generates Over percentages of hotel/motel tax contributions collected within each city.
