We are coming full circle with this Director, LagosPhoto year’s theme “designing futures”. It can be argued that design as a concept, is in a con- stant state of flux and constantly challenged by rapid changes in technology. By investi- gating the linkages between photography and design we are introduced to new varied and exciting ways of visualizing and realising a newer and hopefully a better future. We are happy to welcome on board our guest curator, Cristina De Middel whose innova- tive approach to contemporary photography is relevant. Cristina is a past exhibitor in two previous LagosPhoto Éditions and one who understands the spirit of the festival. There are thirty five exhibiting photographers this year with a diverse range of projects but all selected because they further illuminate – or perhaps not, this blurred boundary between contemporary photography and design. This year, the month long festival will consist of exhibitions, workshops, artist presentations, discussions, screenings, and large scale out- door installations in congested public spaces. There are several other curated spaces showing other special projects such as the World Press Photo exhibition, POPCAP, 1%: Privilege in a Time of Global Inequality, a group exhibition curated by Myles Little. © Chris Saunders
