The church building became part of the newly established Our Lady of the Angels Parish in October of 1993. The newly formed parish ceased using the church building as a wor- ship site in 2004. The building is directly next to St. Mary Diocesan Cemetery, next to the former St. Francis Hospital site, and the new Children’s Hospital location. Under Canon Law, both a place of worship (our churches) and a place where the faithful are buried (our cemeteries and/or mausoleums) are designated as “sacred.” Because the former church building will be converted into a place for the burial of the faithful, it remains a sacred place.
