CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Jensen-Tebb called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
Resolution Moved by Member Edwards to approve the Agenda with the FCSS 18-9 following additions: • 5.4 Seniors Symposiums • 6.4 Northern Lakes College Continuing Education Motion Carried.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Advisory Board Meeting of March 12, 2018
Resolution Moved by Member Thompson to approve the Minutes of the March FCSS 18-10 12, 2018, FCSS Advisory Board Meeting, as presented. Motion Carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
North East Regional Meeting
The meeting participants gave feedback on the Regional meeting. There will be Emergency Social Services (ESS) training for FCSS Directors later in the year in Westlock. Locations have been set for future North East Regional meetings; Cold Lake (2019), Lac La Biche (2020) and Athabasca (2021.)

NEW BUSINESS:
2017 Review Engagement Report
The 2017 Review Engagement Report compiled by Ernst & Young Global Limited was presented.
Program Reports - March & April
Manager Wood presented the March and April program reports.
Manager Wood informed the FCSS Advisory Board that the FCSSAA had received funding through the Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN) to assist communities with conducting homelessness estimation counts in rural Alberta. An email was sent out through Inter Agency but did not receive the responses needed to submit an application from the Athabasca area for the available funding. Manger Wood did however contact the FCSSAA regarding the opportunity to access the tool and record the data in response to Rural Homelessness research and that option is available. Lori Heywood, FCSS Community Programs Coordinator, will be looking further into this project, so another email will be sent to Inter Agency asking any parties who would like to participate, to contact Lori by June 1, 2018.
FCSSAA Updates - March & April
Manager Wood is now a member of the Program Advisory Team (PAT.) The PAT is a vehicle for the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the FCSSAA to jointly consider program policies and processes, and recommend improvements.
The Board sees value in receiving the FCSSAA Updates so Manager Wood will continue to distribute this information. In the near future training modules will be available on the FCSSAA website for Board and FCSS staff members. More information to follow.
Seniors Symposiums Invitation
Seniors Advocate Kim Lewis is planning the 2018 Seniors Symposiums; Tuesday, June 5th is in Boyle and Thursday, June 7th is in Athabasca. An invitation to the events will be emailed to Board members.

OTHER BUSINESS:
Staffing Update
Samantha Weppler, Diversion Worker, and Sarah Lachance, Family School Liaison Worker, have returned from their maternity leave. Lori Heywood has moved into the position of Community Programs Coordinator and Nadine Tomuschat who is the Athabasca Mentorship Program Coordinator will be taking on the additional role of ECD Coordinator starting May 22, 2018.
Annual Report for Board
The FCSS Athabasca 2017 Annual Report was presented to the Board.
Manager Wood will request delegation times to present the report to County, Town and Village Councils.
Strategic Plan
The current FCSS Strategic Plan was reviewed with the Board.
Member Rawson left the meeting at 11:20 a.m. and did not return.
Northern Lakes College Continuing Education
Member Edwards reported that program requests are being accepted by Northern Lakes College for continuing education courses. They have scheduled Fire Arms Acquisition, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid courses.
