This chapter provides an overview of Abaqus documentation. The documentation for Abaqus is organized into a collection, with guides grouped by function (as shown in Figure 1-1). Figure 1-1 Abaqus HTML Documentation Collection, organized according to the category. For information on the manuals available in the Abaqus documentation collection, see HTML as the main format for Abaqus documentation. Html guides that contain all available content, including help pages for Abaqus/CAE, are viewed through a web browser. By default, advanced search methods are available with HTML documentation. For more information on HTML documentation, see the same content, with the exception of the Abaqus/CAE help pages, with the exception of context-sensitive help pages, available in PDF documentation. THE PDF guides are viewed through the PDF viewer. PDF search capabilities are determined by the PDF viewer used to display documentation. The PDF documentation contains a portable link for Abaqus and offers the possibility of obtaining high-quality printed pages of documentation. You can print documentation from HTML. but to print sections that are more than a few pages long, it is recommended to print the PDF documentation. The name and logo of this software are based on the abacus calculation tool. Abaqus' product suite consists of five main software products: Abaqus/CAE, or Full Environment Abaqus (backronim with a root in computer engineering). It is a software application used both to model and analyze mechanical components and assemblies (pre-processing) and to visualize the outcome of the analysis of the final elements. A subset of Abaqus/CAE, including only the module after treatment, can be launched alone in the Abaqus/Viewer product. Abaqus/Standard, a general purpose end-item analyzer using an implicit integration scheme (traditional). Abaqus/Explicit, a special Finite-Element analyzer that uses a clear integration scheme to address highly non-linear systems with many complex contacts at time loads. Abaqus/CFD, Computational Fluid Dynamics software that provides advanced computational fluid dynamics capabilities with broad pre-processing and post-processing support provided by Abaqus/CAE. Abaqus/Electromagnetic, a computer electromagnetic software that solves advanced computational electromagnetic problems. Abaqus products use the language of Python open source scripts for scripts and settings. Abaqus/CAE uses fox tools to develop gui. History Abaqus was founded in 1978 by Dr. David Hibbitt, Dr. Bengt Karlsson and Dr. Paul Sorensen with the original name Hibbitt, Karlsson and Sorensen, Inc. (HKS). The company's name was later changed to ABACUS Inc. prior to Dassault Syst'mes' acquisition in 2005. He then became part of Dassault Syst'mes Simulia Corp. The company was headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, until 2014. Since 2014, the company has been headquartered in Johnston, Rhode Island, USA. Abaqus applications are used in the automotive, aerospace and industrial industries. The product is popular among non-boring and research institutes in engineering because of the extensive material modeling capabilities, and the ability of the program to be configured, for example, users can identify their own material models so that new materials can be modeled in Abaqus. Abaqus also provides a good set of multiphysics capabilities such as connected acoustic structures, piezoelectric and structural-pores capabilities, making it attractive for modeling at the production level where multiple fields must be connected. Abaqus was originally designed to address nonlineary physical behavior; As a result, the package has a wide range of material models such as elastometric (rubber) and hyperelastic (soft tissue) material capabilities. Here are a few animated examples of the Abaqus FEA Sequence Solutions software products used in the analysis of the final element and their order of use. Each complete analysis of the final element consists of three separate steps: Pre-processing or modeling: This step involves creating an input file that contains an engineer's project to analyze the final element (also called solver). Processing or analysis of the end item: At this stage, a visual output file is created. After processing or generating a report, image, animation, etc. from the output of the file: This stage is a visual visualization stage. Abaqus/CAE is capable of pre-processing, post-processing and monitoring the solver's processing stage; however, the first stage can also be done by another compatible CAD software, or even a text editor. Abaqus/Standard, Abaqus/Explicit or Abaqus/CFDs are capable of performing the processing phase. Dassault Systemes also manufactures Abaqus for CATIA to add advanced processing and post-processing steps to a pre-processor such as CATIA. Transitional loads include: quasi-static loads (slow-moving loads in which the inertia effect is small enough to be neglected) and dynamic loads (fast different loads). The company's products are focused on specialists in manufacturing, design and marketing. The 3DVIA Community Products is a social network for 3D fashion designers, professionals and 3D enthusiasts. 3dvia composer is a 3D technical communication software that allows users to explain products using existing 3D data. Users can create high-resolution 2D illustrations and 3D animations to support a variety of products such as technical documentation, 3D work instructions, animated service applications, and sales and marketing collateral. Hosting 3DVIA allows users to post, manage and access their 3D resources from any web or iOS device at any time. 3DVIA Mobile is a 3D interactive content for iOS platforms (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch). It uses decorum technology to take over 30 3D content formats and make them acceptable to view on iOS devices. 3DVIA Shape is a free online 3D modeling app that allows users to create and share 3D models in the 3DVIA community. The application is aimed at beginner 3D modelers who want to design for recreational purposes, as well as experienced 3D modelers who need to create prototypes of model projects. The 3DVIA Store is software designed for use by manufacturers and retailers. This allows users to realistically simulate retail settings inside immersive 3D environments. 3DVIA Studio is an interactive environment for app creators that has been designed specifically to take large CAD data resources and use it in game simulators and training applications. The app is also used for entertaining titles in entertainment and social games. The history of 3DVIA was formed in 2007 by Dassault Syst'mes with the mission of democratizing 3D technologies for use in consumer markets, new media and non-indian professional markets. The brand group was created through a suite of several internal projects and an earlier acquisition of Virtools, a game engine and a prototyping app. In 2007, 3dvia.com (renamed teapotters.com) was released and focused on creating a social network and content community for 3D artists and fashion designers. The site allowed users to download 3D content in numerous 3D formats and then browse them interactively through a web browser. Later, in 2007, the company released 3D modeling app called 3DVIA Shape. It was consumer-focused and used in partnership with Microsoft Virtual Earth. Microsoft Virtual Form Earth product version has been released as the official 3D simulation app for Microsoft 3D Globe Globe The 3DVIA brand was expanded in 2007 through the acquisition of Seemage. Rebranded as 3DVIA Composer, The Seemage product line has focused on re-providing existing product design data (CAD) to create 2D and 3D product communications, including technical illustrations, 3D animation and interactive online applications. 3DVIA entered the mobile market in 2008 with the release of 3DVIA Mobile, one of the first 3D models on iOS. 3DVIA Mobile allowed users to view 3D models in an interactive view on the Apple iPhone and connect them to content posted on 3DVIA.com. In early 2009, 3DVIA released version 5 of 3DVIA Virtools, which offered a development environment for real-time 3D applications and related services focused on system integrators, gaming studios, and enterprise end users. The brand expanded its reach in the indie gaming market with the release of a free real-time game engine called 3DVIA Studio in March 2010. Product game users are able to create and publish interactive 3D games and experiences on Facebook and 3dvia.com. It also allowed users to purchase content for use in their projects in the 3DVIA market, an e-commerce service for 3D content launched at the same 3dvia.com. In June 2011, 3DVIA Hosting, a 3D file-sharing service, was released. Links : b c Company Profile for Dassault Systemes S.A (DASTY) (archive). Archive from the original on October 5, 2011.
