To discover on the road :

Point 1 : On Marines’ height, park your car at the crossroad of les Hautiers – walk for 100m on the left to reach a viewpoint of Marines and the agricultural plains (south). Cross the wooded mound of Caillouet and discover a viewpoint of le Rosnel (North)

Between point 7 and 8 : Medieval farm of La Laire, secluded on the right side of the road.

Point 11: At Bréançon, there is a parking at the church’s square where the GR1 passes by.

Answer : These stones were used for the strengthening of the railroad’s trench connecting Saint-Lazare to Pont- Cardinet. Did you know ? Did you know? The inhabitants are called « Bervillois ». In 2013, 343 people lived in this municipality.

Local heritage : Church Saint Denis : Listed historical monument. It gathers three different architectural styles, on a cruciform plan. The nave, in a Renaissance style, is composed of three large rectangular spans. It was built between 1547 and 1559, under the local lord, René de Bucy. The facade is composed of three abutments decorated of pilasters and ended by buttress. We can see a small niche with a statue of Saint Denis, holding his head in his hands. The bell tower belongs to the flamboyant gothic style. The choir of the church, gothic too, is the oldest part of the building, it dates back to the XIIIth century.

Did you know ? Theuville, once Haravilliers hamlet is now the least populated village of Vexin Community Center, with about twenty people. Cylindrical dovecote Theuville is located at the entrance of the "Theuville Ravine" accessible through "Rue de l’Aventure" marking the beginning of a wild area.

Local historical facts : Most of the land, farms and houses remained the property of the Angela de Bourbon’s family. Did you know ? Going through his resting place, discover the name of the man who played the character of a fighter pilot in a TV series aired from 1967: Jacques Santi in the series "Les Chevaliers du ciel" with his partner Christian Marin. He spent his childhood between Grisy and Epiais Rhus. He was buried at Grisy’s graveyard.

Did you know ? The name “Cormeilles" is probably of Gallic or Latin origin. Local heritage : The construction of Saint Martin church began in 1120 with the Romanesque nave and aisles. The choir is built during the second half of the XIIIth century in the Gothic style. Ecce Homo Monument in the cemetery. This is a small niche placed on a masonry base, and having a mutilated statue of Christ at the time of his resurrection. The niche, semicircular, is flanked by two Corinthian columns. Did you know ? Frémécourt seems to come from the owner’s name (curtis) during the Gallo-Roman age. Artimont, contrary to what we can read here and there, always has been a hamlet of Frémécourt and not an independent parish. There was a really ancient kingdom called « fief de la croix d’Artimont ».

Local historical facts : There was a windmill in the past. Built around 1800 by a family of millers called Drain, it was exploited until 1842 when he was demolished. A local lord, Thibault Frémécourt was nicknamed "The Wolf" in 1232. The Lordship of Frémécourt was bought in 1616 by Nicolas Brûlart Sillery, already Lord of Marines. Since then and until the Revolution, Frémécourt remained in the lap of its powerful neighbor. The Church of Frémécourt, which threatened to fall apart, was hit with a curse by the great Vicar of Pontoise, in 1697, to force the responsible to repair it.
