The following information includes those individuals who appeared on the November general ballot (winners in bold) based onthe unofficial general election results posted by the Ohio Secretary of State. *Please note that close races are subject to automatic recounts. FEDERAL PRESIDENTIAL RACE: Former Vice President Joe Biden has been declared the winner, securing 306 Electoral College votes. U.S. SENATE: Control of the U.S. Senate has flipped to the Democrats. Senators David Purdue (R-Ga.) and Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) were both defeated by their opponents, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, respectively. U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES: The Democrat Party will retain control of the House but with a slimmer majority. OHIO CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION: All members of the Ohio Congressional delegation were re-elected. • Rep. Troy Balderson (R-OH-12) defeated Democrat Alaina Shearer and Libertarian John Stewart. • Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH-3) defeated Republican Mark Richardson. • Rep. Steve Stivers (R-OH-15), an Ohio State alum, defeated Democrat Joel Newby. Neither of Ohio’s Senators were up for re-election. OHIO STATE CONGRESSIONAL ALUMNI: • Representative Alma Adams (D-NC-3), who received a PhD in 1981, won re-election. • Representative Alan Lowenthal (D-CA-47), who received a MA in 1965 and PhD in 1967, won re-election. • Representative Harley Rouda (D-CA-48), who received his MBA in 2002, was defeated by his opponent Michelle Steel. • Representatives Jim Jordan (R-OH-4), Bob Gibbs (R-OH-7), Marcia L. Fudge (D-OH-11), Steve Stivers (R- OH-15), and Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH-16) all won re-election. • Senator Tom Carper (D-DE), who received his BA in 1967, was not up for re-election. With the victory of Jennifer Brunner, the Republican majority will be narrowed to 4-3 for 2021-2022. State Senate terms are 4 years. In the 133rd General Assembly, the Republicans held a 24-9 majority. The Franklin County delegation is comprised of four seats: Districts 3, 15, 16, and 19. Only District 16 is up this election cycle. • District 16 – Incumbent Stephanie Kunze (R) faced challenger Crystal Lett (D). This western Franklin County district includes portions of Columbus, Grove City, Upper Arlington, Dublin, Hilliard, and Worthington. It includes Ohio House Districts 21, 23, and 24. STATEWIDE VIEW OF THE OHIO SENATE: Senate majority Republican challenger Sandra O’Brien (R – Rome) defeated incumbent Sen. Sean O’Brien (D - Bazetta) in Ohio’s 32nd Senate District in northeastern Ohio. The Franklin County delegation is comprised of Districts 17-26. Party makeup remains unchanged. • District 17 – Incumbent state Rep. Adam Miller (D – Columbus) defeated challenger Tim Haske (R – Columbus). • District 18 – Incumbent Kristin Boggs (D - Columbus) defeated Kayla Packard (R – Columbus). • District 19 – Incumbent Mary Lightbody (D – Westerville) defeated Meredith Freedhoff (R - New Albany). • District 20 – Incumbent Richard Brown (D – Canal Winchester) deafeted Chris Baer (R – Reynoldsburg). • District 21 – Incumbent Beth Liston (D – Dublin) defeated Mehek Cooke (R – Dublin). • District 22 – Incumbent David Leland (D – Columbus) retained his district unopposed. • District 23 – Incumbent Laura Lanese (R – Grove City) defeated Nancy Day-Achauer (D – Columbus). • District 24 – Incumbent Allison Russo (D – Upper Arlington) defeated Patrick Manley (R – Columbus). • District 25 – Dontavius Jarrells (D – Columbus) bested James Burgess (R – Gahanna) in this seat that is currently held by Rep. Bernadine Kennedy-Kent (D – Columbus) who did not seek re-election. • District 26 – Incumbent Erica Crawley (D – Columbus) retained her district unopposed. STATEWIDE VIEW OF THE OHIO HOUSE: The Ohio House Republican majority has grown to 64-35 with a net pick-up of three seats. The Republicans picked up two open seats, the 96th and 99th House districts are currently held by Rep. Cera (D – Bellaire) and Rep. John Patterson (D – Jefferson). In addition, challenger Gail Pavliga (R – Atwater) defeated incumbent Rep. Randi Clites (D – Ravenna) in the 75th district, and challenger Mike Loychik (R – Cortland) defeated incumbent Gil Blair (D – Niles) in the 63rd district. The Democrats defeated incumbent Rep. Dave Greenspan (R – Westlake) with challenger Monique Smith (D – Fairview Park) in the 16th district.
