ORDINANCES

For terms, conditions and appointment of

THE OFFICERS OF THE UNIVERSITY

THE DEANS OF SCHOOLS

(Under Section 9 and 13 and Statute 5)

In exercise of the powers vested in Section 28(2) of the Central Universities Act 2009 and for the purpose of implementing Section 9,13 and 5 of the Statutes, the Executive Council hereby makes the following Ordinance for appointment and other terms and conditions of Deans of Schools in Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (A Central University)

The Dean shall have the power to convene, or cause to be convened, meeting of the School Board, and shall preside at all such meetings and ensure that The ordinances the decisions of the School Board, not being decisions are being made that require the concurrence or endorsement of any for the first time other authority or the Vice-Chancellor, are for the Central implemented. 2. The Dean shall be responsible for-

a) the due observance of the Statutes, Ordinance and Regulations relating to the School; b) the faithful observance of the decisions of the Executive Council and the Academic Council relating to the School and to the courses of study and research degree programmes there under; c) Bringing the financial and other needs of the Faculty to the notice of the Vice-Chancellor.

3. The Dean shall take necessary measures for the proper custody and maintenance of the Libraries, Laboratories and other assets of the Departments comprised in the School.

4. In all matters concerning the School as a whole, the Dean alone shall represent the School in communications with the Vice-Chancellor or with other officers or authorities of the University.

5. The Dean shall have the right to issue instructions to the Director of the campuses, on all matters that are within the jurisdiction of the School, and it shall be the duty of the Director to ensure compliance with such instructions:

Provided that all such instructions shall be reported by the Dean to the Vice-Chancellor.

6. The Vice-Chancellor may, for reasons to be recorded in writing, by order direct that a teacher appointed to any subject or Department in a School shall be placed under the immediate supervision of the Dean for such period as may be specified in such order, and in such a case the teacher concerned shall perform such academic duties in the Department and such other duties as may be specified in the order.

7. The Dean shall have such other powers and duties as may be prescribed by the Ordinances and Regulations.
