BY COLIN THORSEN

Corey Church clinched his third allround cowboy title with a win and fourth placing at the National Rodeo Finals at Kihi- kihi. Church won Saturday’s second go round, rope and tie contest, as well as placing fourth in the first go round saddle bronc. It is national title number three for the cowboy from Roto- rua, having previously triumphed at the Mid Northern Finals in 2008 and the Egmont/ Wanganui Finals the following year. Pushing him hard all the way was runner-up allround cowboy Anthony Perkins of Southland. The South Islander took out both the New Zealand rope and tie championship and team roping header championship. Ramoan Neho was another stand out cowboy, recording most points in bareback and saddle bronc at NFR. He clinched the New Zealand saddle bronc title in emphatic fashion, winning both the day’s first and second go events.
