A banda “ARCTIC MONKEYS” A banda foi formada em 2002, Sheffield, Inglaterra, Reino Unido. Após ganharem suas guitarras no natal de 2001, os vizinhos Alex Turner e Lamie Cook montaram uma banda, a “Bang Bang”com seus amigos de escola Andy Nicholson, que tocava baixo, e Matt Helders que se tornou baterista. ARCTIC MONKEYS Depois mudaram o nome da banda para Arctic Monkeys. Entre seus sucessos, podemos destacar: I Bet You Look Good on the Dance floor, Don’t Sit Down Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair, Brick by Brick, Brianstorm, Crying Lightning, This House is a Circus, entre outros. IntegrantesIntegrantes:: Alex Turner (guitarra e voz), Jamie Cook (guitarra), Nick O’Malley (baixo), Matthew Helders (bateria e voz de apoio). Discografia: A música “BRIANSTORM” Whatever People Say I Am, Favourite Worst Humbug (2009) Suck It and See (2011) A canção pertence ao álbum “Favourite That I’m Not (2006) Nightmare (2007) Worst Nightmare” de 2007, o segundo da banda. Esse disco vendeu mais de 225.000 cópias somente na primeira semana, e rendu ao grupo os prêmios de Melhor Álbum Britânico e Melhor Grupo Britânico, no Brit Awards 2008. O baterista ““MATTMATT HELDERSHELDERS”” Matthew J. Heldres, nasceu dia 07 de maio de 1986, Sheffield, England, ficou conhecido por ser um dos membros da banda britânica Arctic Monkeys. Matt acabou opitando pela bateria, pois foi o único instrumento que restou, já que seus amigos já haviam ocupado os outros cargos na banda Arctic Monkeys. Então, acabou comprando um kit de bateria, e aprendeu a tocar. Matt também foi um dos idealizadores do festival Tramlines em Sheffield, e lançou sua própria linha de roupas, consistindo de um casaco, uma capa zip e três t-shirts. As roupas foram colocados à venda maio 2007 com vendas acompanhado por um CD com um remix de Arctic Monkeys. As rock journalism evolved in the 1960s and 1970s, so did two dismissive and misogynistic stereotypes about female fans: groupies and teenyboppers (Coates, 2003). While groupies were scorned in rock circles for their perceived hypersexuality, teenyboppers, who we can consider an umbrella term including boy band fanbases, were defined by a lack of sexuality and viewed as shallow, immature and prone to hysteria, and ridiculed as hall markers of bad taste, despite being driving forces in commercial markets (Ewens, 2020; Sherman, 2020). Similarly, boy bands have been disdained for their perceived femininity and viewed as inauthentic compared to “real” artists— namely, hypermasculine male rock artists. While the boy band genre has evolved and experienced different eras, depictions of both the bands and their fans have stagnated in media, relying on these old stereotypes (Duffett, 2012). This paper aimed to investigate to what extent modern boy bands are portrayed differently from non-boy bands in music journalism through a quantitative content analysis coding articles for certain tropes and themes.
