2 Virtual Worlds at EKOFILM In the middle of one of the most beautiful places in the Czech countryside and at the same time walking in Freedom Square. Is that nonsense? Not at all! EKOFILM has prepared for you an exclusive walk through the Krkonoše meadows and the wilderness of Šumava in virtual reality. We will take you to the most incredible places of the Czech landscape through the latest technologies. Why? So that you can tell yourself in the end: “I want to go and see it live!” Because no technology can replace the real breeze, the scent of flowers and the sounds of the wild nature. You can visit the virtual reality every festival day, on Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

3 #ekofilm THIS YEAR'S FOCUS: NATURE – OUR HERITAGE

It has been approximately 4.6 billion years since the system that people later named the solar system acquired another member: planet Earth. During that long time it has gone through many peri- ods and has become home to a variety of creatures and greenery. Its ecosystem has changed over time to the shape we know today. We call this nature. Trees, flowers, animals, mountains, meadows, oceans, rivers, streams – what does nature actually mean? Each of us thinks of something different. For some, it is the deep forest, for another a park, for one a meadow, for another a field. No matter what the differences between our perceptions are, we have one thing in common. We are all responsible for how nature will thrive. Our ancestors lived in harmony with it and so should we. Its strength is much greater than ours. And this is what the 45th year of the Europe's oldest environmental film festival EKOFILM is dedicated to. It will present nature on the film screen in a variety we probably do not even know. We will look be- yond the Arctic Circle, into the Amazon rainforest, onto an equatorial island and into the centre of Europe. We will become familiar with the fate of people who have decided to dedicate their lives to nature conservation. You can look forward to more than twenty films and meetings with their creators at the Scala cinema, an exhibition of photographs at Moravian Square in the park, workshops, lectures with Czech and for- eign experts, discussions, experience programmes, programmes for schools and huge opening concert. We will also take you into virtual reality. We want to emphasise that it is our duty to treat nature so that it will stay with us in the future. Otherwise, we will only be able to know it through new technologies in the future. Probably none of us wants that.

Waxed Napkins, 10 October, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Polybags, foils, bags, pouches – eco-unfriendly packages are a huge burden to our planet. With RUSTICwrap you can learn to make napkins out of wax and cotton which are eco-friendly. No more remorse for your snack packaging! Alongside Lipka, you will immerse yourself in the world of solitary bees and find that although these bees do not produce honey, they are able to pollinate more plant species and are a benefit for us and nature. Their new project, Virtual Zoo Brno, is intended to introduce wild animals in their natural environment using the latest technology. And you will be able to take home a little bit of virtual reality as you can make your own virtual reality glasses out of cardboard in our workshop. You can get to know the world of natural laws up close with the “vida- tors” at the VIDA! Science Centre stand. They will show you experi- ments that will inspire your children. National Geographic is a world of science, adventure and exploration. In National Geographic, there are curious people who believe there is still much to discover and that great stories can change the way we perceive the world. Discover wildlife with them. Create with Lesy ČR your favourite part of the landscape from sand, leaves, twigs, moss, fir cones and grass – remember the corners of nature that are close to you and engraved in your heart.
