From the Bishop of Kensington
The first and most important thing to say is Welcome! We are really pleased to have you in the Diocese of London and specifically in the Kensington Area. We sincerely hope that your ministry among us will be fulfilling, inspiring and above all happy.
London is a city of many diverse cultures and communities. The Diocese covers 277 square miles of Greater London north of the Thames, serving a population of 3.6 million people. The Kensington Area is one of five in the diocese, stretching from Kensington and Chelsea as far west as Staines and Stanmore. In every part of the capital our goal is to serve the people of London by caring for the spiritual, relational and practical needs of all through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. There are churches and chaplaincies large and small, newly born and ancient, which are flourishing in the joyful task of advancing the kingdom of God’s love. I hope you will soon discover some of those thrilling stories and find yourself caught up in the same adventure.
My encouragement to you is that from day one you give yourself fully to the call of God to both ‘abound in the work of the Lord’ (1 Cor 15:58) while also ‘abiding deeply in Christ’ (John 15:4). Most of us do not find it easy to nourish and sustain this calling and so I would urge you to take every opportunity to develop strong friendships with fellow clergy and engage fully in the training and support that is offered within the diocese.
Please let me know if there is any way in which we can support you and your family in these early days of a new ministry. Of course, you will be in our prayers. It is great to have you as part of the Kensington Team and I look forward to serving with you in the months and years ahead.

The Bishop of Kensington’s jurisdiction is the six deaneries constituting the Archdeaconry of Middlesex. The Kensington Area Office will normally be the first point of contact for all general enquiries.
