There is plenty to do in and around Ravenglass Village to complete your day out with us:

RAVENGLASS RAILWAY MUSEUM - 30 MINUTES Head inside our on-site Museum to find out all about the history of our Railway. A great addition to your day out, plus entry is free! (donations welcomed)

ROMAN BATH HOUSE - 45 MINUTES Just a short walk from Ravenglass Station, the remains of the bath house of Ravenglass Roman fort (AD 130) are among the tallest Roman structures surviving in North Britain! A little hidden gem that is well worth discovering.

RAVENGLASS BEACH WALK - 1 HOUR Take a relaxing walk past the Roman Bath House and back to the village along the beach. On a very clear day you may even spot the Isle of Man on the horizon! Be sure to double check that the tide is out and that you have plenty of time to walk back before it starts coming in!

MUNCASTER CASTLE & GARDENS - 3 HOURS Dating back to at least 1026 (but probably even earlier), the castle is a key part of West 's history. Take a tour of the grand castle and enjoy strolling through the stunning gardens. Do not miss out! Be sure to check opening times and book before visiting. RAVENGLASS

PLACES TO EAT Enjoy a pub lunch at The Ratty Arms or the Pennington Hotel, both located in the village. Alternatively pre-order a Railway picnic to pick up from the Turntable Café!

FACILITIES We have toilets on Platform 1, including a disabled toilet. All located just beyond the entrance to the Turntable Café.

Dalegarth Station is situated just a few minutes walk from Boot Village and there is plenty to do in the area:

THE ESKDALE MILL - 1 HOUR Walk to Boot Village and take a look around the Eskdale Mill; a recently restored traditional water mill. They have a fully working water wheel whic is facinating to watch! Be sure to check opening times and book before visiting.

ANNE'S WALK - 1 HOUR A lovely easy walking route that takes you along a section of the River Esk. You can also head to St Catherine's Church or Stanley Ghyll Force from here too.

ST CATHERINE'S CHURCH - 1 1/2 HOURS Take in the stunning beauty of St Catherine's Church and the stepping stones. A flat walk all the way from Dalegarth Station, this is a lovely walk and you can even see from the church!

STANLEY GHYLL FORCE WATERFALL - 2 HOURS A bit further on from the church and Anne's Walk is the incredible Stanley Ghyll Force Waterfall. A fairly easy walk, that is well worth it! The footpath all the way to the top of the falls is currently closed but you still get great views of the waterfalls. DALEGARTH

PLACES TO EAT Pick up some takeaway treats or your pre- ordered Railway picnic from Fellbites Café. Alternatively, head into Boot Village and have a hearty pub lunch at The Brook House Inn or The Boot Inn!

THE ESKDALE TRAIL - 4 HOURS This 8 mile walk takes in the stunning views of the Eskdale Valley as you walk parallel to our train line. This route is rough underfoot so we would not recommend it for prams or wheelchairs. It is quite an undulating walk that goes over Muncaster with a medium difficulty level so please bear this in mind before planning this route.

If you are taking on this walk please ensure that you are fully prepared. Take some food - a picnic box from either Turntable or Fellbites Café is a great idea! Make sure that you have plenty of water, some suncream and waterproofs as you never know what the weather will be like in the ! We advise that you also take a map with you as mobile phone signal is very limited in the Valley.
