Date: v vi CHRIST UNIVERSITY ABSTRACT Promotional strategies used by electronic dance music festivals (sunburn and vh1 supersonic) on social networking sites Koka Sai Pavan Sri Ranganayakulu This study deals with promotional strategies used by Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festivals like Sunburn and Supernova on social networking sites. This study also tries to learn branding techniques used by these Electronic Dance Music’s. The interest Indian youth have on music festivals has increased and is still increasing mainly due to social networking sites especially in the past few years. Promotions used by these events are trending and are the most successful promotional strategies implemented till date. The research is to find how the music festivals use resources to create interest towards the events. The research also talks about music lovers, their love towards these festivals, the reflection of the promotional activities on their behaviors and interest created by music. It also discusses music festivals as a platform of social networking on an international level. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.

The purpose is to under- stand the festivalgoers level of satisfaction based on the perceived quality of the festival quality factors. The literature review introduces theories about customer satisfaction, festivals, festival management and festival quality. The framework of the research is based on the theory of six festival quality factors (program, staff, ancillary services, facilities, convenience and comfort amenities) by Chen, Lee and Lin (2012). By the commissioner's request three fes- tival quality factors (marketing, availability of information and entertainment) were added to the research. Altogether there were nine festival quality factors. The research was conducted using a qualitative research approach. The research meth- ods were a focus group discussion and personal interviews. Ten respondents participated in both parts of the research.

It Analyzes the metaphorical expression of words within the lyrics. The study has two research problems. The objectives are to give proper classification of metaphorical expressions and to convey the meanings of those particular expressions. The writer uses descriptive qualitative approach to capture and convey the metaphorical expressions along with their meanings. The data of this research is in a form of transcripted song lyrics. The writer utilizes George Lakoff and Mark Johnson (1980) theory to analyze the data and to signifying the roots of newly proposed metaphor theory. As the result, it finds that the song lyrics were matched with the characteristic of each type of conceptual metaphor: Structural Metaphor, Ontological Metaphor, and Orientational Metaphor. There are many expressions of metaphor dominantly speaks about the journey of life, a form of self satisfaction and expressions of love.
