ATLANTA DANCE WEEKLY 14 December 2010 Edition www.atlantadanceweekly.com ******************************************* It's that time of year when amateur hour is every day and every night. The nonstop have many folks drinking and not thinking..., especially when it comes time to go home. Please take a moment to look after your friends and do not let someone leave your or one you are attending drunk. Be Safe. We need you on the dance floor

**************************************** Derrell Jones reports that since the first Saturday in January is New Years Day, the monthly line and couple dances at the VFW in Conyers will resume on February 5, 2011. Go ahead and get that date on your calendar and remember due to Valentine’s there IS NO MOOSE Dance in February. You will have to make plans to be in Warner Robins on Friday night and Conyers on Saturday night.

Since there is no Moose dance, February 12th might be a good night for a field trip to BLONDE in Gainesville, depending on the weather and who the band is. Stay tuned…

**************************************** You asked for a write up on Corey's show Friday at Wild Bills - it was awesome.

ZAK BROWN ( 2010 Grammy winner for best new act) showed up to watch the show, and actually performed 4 or 5 songs. HE TOLD COREY THAT WAS A KICK ASS SHOW. My son-n-law Steve Taylor, who is Corey's best friend and manager was talking with him backstage and said Zak was really impressed with Corey.

Also Mac Powell, from "3rd Day" showed up and played -it was quite a night.

Hope you can check out Corey at myspace.com/coreycrowder, and let everyone know when he's in town again.

Thanks Again, Sharon Carter

**************************************** WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY (This week): The Dance Bunch plans to be at WILD BILL's in Duluth on Wednesday and Friday.

Bring a can of food on FRIDAY for entry. Homemade Jam – is the band so let’s have lots of dancers out to support this good cause… Come on… It is FREE w/ a couple of cans of food for the Atlanta Food Bank. This is our annual customer appreciation night - come celebrate Christmas with the Wild Bill’s staff.

If marked as SPAM then that flags your e-mail provider to mark us as a “Spammer” and that then blocks us from sending to all those others who DO want it. In accordance with Federal Regulations and Law, if you find that this newsletter is no longer of interest to you and you wish to have your name removed from our listing, we will gladly do as you desire. Simply reply to this email with the following subject line; "REMOVE from Dance list". If you will list both your name (as given for this e-mail) and the actual e-mail address….

******************************************************** Dancers Night Out brings in a great mix of couple and Line Dancers… REMEMBER, wherever you dance!! IF you see someone “in the lane”, encourage them to pull to the middle of the dance floor. They might not know that the edges must be kept open for the couple dancers to pass by…

Also, Couple dancers, please do not cut in real close because some of the line dances move a good way and when the line dancers suddenly shift, they could be in your path! THANKS and let’s keep it fun and safe for everyone out there. ********************************************************* DULUTH GA: HI DANCERS! GREAT *Dancer's Night Out* at Cledus T's last Friday, December 10th : ) So nice to see LOTS of familiar faces. Appreciate everyone who came to dance and party!!! Thanks for helping celebrate birthdays with Michael (my son), Nikki (Dancin' Friend & my partner in crime), Sherron (Another Dancin' Friend and my husband's girlfriend - Smile) and Moses (Security guard at the door of Cledus T's). Cake was YUMMY and the beer was COLD : )

Dancers filled the floor for line dance lessons with Dancin' Tweety Leslie and the Jinx Atlanta band entertained everyone after line dance lessons and BOY ARE THEY GOOD!!! Nice group of people also : )

If you haven't heard, the dance floor at Cledus T's has been enlarged and it is GREAT!!! Can actually line and couple dance at the same time now - YES!!! THANKS to Doug Roberson for taking the time to make Cledus T's a better place for all of us to dance. More floor to come in the days ahead.

Dancin' Tweety's Reminder: Line Dance lessons ARE EVERY Friday evening at Cledus T's from 7:15-9 pm. If you have a request or a CD that you would like to hear/play, the DJ will be glad to PLAY it : )

Cledus T's doors open at 7 pm and please remember that there is a $ 5.00 GENERAL ADMISSION but the Line dance lessons are FREE!!! Cledus T's is a NON-SMOKING facility and serves good food next door at the Game Time restaurant if you would like to get a bite to eat.

PLEASE NOTE: Cledus T's WILL NOT have line dance lessons on these dates: Friday, 12/24 - Christmas Eve & Friday, 12/31 - New Years Eve. Please come out this Friday, 12/17 for lessons because we will not have lessons again at Cledus T's until, Friday, January 7th. Please enjoy your Christmas Holiday and New Years Eve and be SAFE!!!

Dances taught/reviewed on Friday, 12/10/10:

TAUGHT - *Things We Do* - Choreographed by Robbie McGowan Hickie - 32 count, 4 wall, Beginner/Improver line dance - Music: "That Thing We Do" by Blake Shelton, REVIEWED -

*Healing* - Choreographed by Michael Thompson - 32 count, 4 wall, beginner/intermediate line dance - Music: "Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye & TAUGHT - *Midnight Waltz* - Choreographed by Jo Thompson - 48 count, 4 wall, intermediate line dance - Music: *Their Hearts Are Dancing* by The Forester Sisters. I switched dances because I wanted to dedicate the Midnight Waltz to a very special woman that passed away recently and the Waltz was her favorite dance and what waltz is more beautiful than Jo Thompson's, *Midnight Waltz*.

This Friday, 12/17/10, I will REVIEW *Things We Do* and *Midnight Waltz* and TEACH *I Run To You* - Choreographed by Rachael McEnaney - 64 count, 2 wall, intermediate line dance - Music: "I Run To You" by Lady Antebellum.

PLEASE REMEMBER: If you need *FOOT TUBES*, I sell them. They are the knitted bands that go around the front part of your shoes to assist with slickness. I have Black, ONE (1) pair of TAN and a couple of WHITE. The foot tubes are cool little additions to help your shoes if you need to add some slickness. Please come see me if you are interested in seeing and/or purchasing a pair. Alternative: Dance wax/powder : ) There is usually some on the edges of the dance floor that you can put on your shoes. Please remember to use sparingly because the wax/powder can make your shoes very slippery. If there is not any wax/powder already in the corners of the dance floor, please let me know : )

Always be courteous to other dancers on the floor. Line dancers, please stay in the middle of the dance floor to allow the couples to move freely around the outside of the dance floor : ) ***PLEASE DO NOT TAKE DRINKS*** on the dance floor!!! This is SO dangerous. Thanks for your help!!!

Cledus T's is located at 1131 North Tennessee Street (behind Slopes BBQ and next to Carmike Cinemas) in Cartersville, GA - (770) 386-4441. PLEASE check the website for more info on events and drink specials: www.cledustclub.com. Game Time restaurant is connected to Cledus T's : )

Hope to see you this Friday, 12/17 - Stay Warm!!! Friendly Holiday Advice Please, take care of yourself this Christmas. A recent joint study conducted by the Department of Health and the Department of Motor Vehicles indicates that 23% of traffic accidents are alcohol related. This means that the remaining 77% are caused by assholes who just drink coffee, carbonated drinks, juices, milk, water, and junk like that. Therefore, beware of those who do not drink alcohol. They cause three times as many accidents. This message is sent by someone who cares about your well being.

------This pretty well sums it up!

Seems a guy gets pulled over by a local policeman. Guy hands the cop his driver's license, insurance verification, plus his concealed carry permit.

"Okay, Mr. Smith," the cop says, "I see your CCW permit. Are you carrying today?" "Yes, I am."

"Well then, better tell me what you got."

Smith says, "Well, I got a .357 revolver in my inside coat pocket. There's a 9mm semi-auto in the glove box. And, I've got a .22 magnum derringer in my right boot."

"Okay," the cop says. "Anything else?"

"Yeah, back in the trunk, there's an AR15 and a shotgun. That's about it."

"Mr. Smith, are you on your way to or from a gun range...?"

"Nope."

"Well then, what are you afraid of...?" "Not a damn thing..."

**************************************************************** Dance Family: Sent: Wed, December 8, 2010 6:25:46 PM Subject: Pepper

I'm not sure if any of you know but I have been in a lot of jaw pain and have been going to PT and Dr. for 6 months and had exhausted all solutions including shots in my jaw. I just had TMJ jaw surgery Friday on my right jaw where they went in (like a face lift) and moved the disc up that had slipped. I had 13 stitches just in front of my ear but it should heal and not be very noticeable. The surgery went well and I am doing good and had stitches taken out today. Dr. said no extensive exercise for 4 weeks which means no dance instruction or dancing or working out! Can't talk much and am on a soft diet but can text and email. I may be out of work for several weeks. Would love to hear from anyone that wants to write as I'll be at home for a while. I miss dancing and seeing all of you! Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday!

Thanks, Pepper ------Singles Dances Atlanta Announcement:

With the heaviest of hearts, I wanted to inform all our Singles Dance supporters and all his friends on the passing Monday of our front door host, a great person, a friend and confidant Ernie Moss. Of the tens of thousands of singles who have attended the dances over the years, Ernie greeted you, danced with many of you and made many a new, timid single feel welcome. Ernie's friendship and guidance has been such an important reason why "Our" dances have been able to survive through very tough economic times.

Ernie was a veteran who was in the Strategic Air Command (SAC), a skilled salesman and in recent years, designed beautiful sets of playing cards, posters, fold-out fans and other items. Many of which our dancers took with them when they left the dances.

Ernie was a very talented person. Still Ernie's greatest attributes were his absolute loyalty to his friends, willingness to help others and an internal drive to create beautiful things. For my birthday last year Ernie designed a very funny "Golf Montage" with the types of Old Golfers and the descriptions of their golfing techniques.... it was quite a work of art. As you walk up the stairs from the outside of my home and into my living room, the first piece of "art" anyone sees in my home is Ernie's Montage. It holds a place of honor in my home.

One of Ernie's favorite dances was the Electric Slide and many of you noticed him as he danced at the front of the dance floor. I spoke with Ernie several times every per day about lots of things. But mostly his love of our dances dominated the discussion. Ernie wished more people would come out and enjoy them and get out of their homes and start to enjoy their lives again.

I truly will miss my friend. I feel privileged to have known him. Ernie is in GOD's hands now. May GOD Bless Ernie Moss!

We will have our dance this Saturday night as scheduled at 7:30. I will send out a dance reminder towards the end of the week.
