Commissioner Note:

We are happy to announce that Ponnur Municipality ranked 18th place in performance Indicators for the month of November – 2016 among 110 ULBs all over the state of . Also stood at 80th place in overall cumulative ranking for the year 2016‐17.

During the month of November Municipality is implementing schemes for development of the town. We are implementing the state and central government schemes such as Implementation of Go‐No 279 on Solid Waste Management, Smart Pulse Survey, and Amrut.

Smart Pulse Survey was launched on July 8th across Andhra Pradesh with an objective to ascertain the socio‐economic status of people and 80% of the households have been surveyed in the Ponnur Municipality by the end of November 2016. Now a day’s technology is playing key role in day to day life. Our Prime Minister already launched digital campaign and our Chief Minister is always step ahead in adopting technology. In order to provide realtime governance Andhra Pradesh government is gradually shifting from traditional administration to electronic administration in all departments. Recently Municipal Administration department has started using e‐Office in all the municipalities and Municipal Corporations. We have also launched this initiative.

Current activities

Council Meeting: The council meeting organized in the starting of the month. The Meeting focussed on, allocation of municipal funds, Implementation of Go‐No ‐279 on Solid Waste Management, developments of roads and other development works also granted funds for this purpose. After various discussion except 10 agendas all other agendas has been accepted by the council.

SMART PLUSE SURVEY

The Smart Pulse Survey launched on July 8th across Andhra Pradesh with an objective to ascertain the socio‐economic status of people. As a part of it Hon’ble MLA launched Smart Pulse Survey at Ponnur Municipality along with Commissioner. As many as 39 enumerators were conducting survey covering all 31 wards in the town. On this occasion Hon’ble MLA Sri. Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar visited wards personally and stated that people should co‐ operate to enumerators and register their details in the survey. Almost 80% of the households have been surveyed in the Ponnur Municipality by the end of November 2016. Ponnur Municipality

Implementation of Go‐279 on Solid Waste Management

Go No‐279 of solid waste management initiates the effective handling of the solid waste and sanitary cleaning activities in the . It provides a strategic framework and operational details for systematic handling of all the related activities in the solid waste management and sanitation services of the City Administration.

The main objectives are: 1. Guiding the ULBs for effective implementation of MSW rules, NGT directives and other relevant regulations in a systematic manner, with reference to Source Segregation, Collection, and Transportation of Solid Waste. 2. Guidelines for micro planning of the residential, commercial areas and main roads, work responsibilities, and methods for carrying out the sanitation and solid waste management activities. 3. Rationalizing the norms for manpower, transportation of vehicles, tools, implements and conservancy materials. 4. Guiding the ULBs on the methods of tendering and contract management aspects.
