Hard Rock Hotel Collapse Volunteer Response
Since the tragedy at the Hard Rock construction site, hundreds of first responders and emergency personnel have worked tirelessly to ensure public safety and to protect the adjacent buildings from additional damage. We extend our gratitude to these individuals, including the New Orleans Police and Fire Departments, EMS professionals and the Special Task Force that have spent nearly two weeks on site. Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer and her staff mobilized to coordinate a First Responder Hospitality tent on site to provide hot meals and refreshments for all present. Organizations like NOLA Tree Project, Neighbors First for Bywater, FMIA, and VCPORA were on hand to assist in deliveries and food service. Of course, the New Orleans community was there too. We would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time, donated food and supplies and fed our first responders throughout this terrible tragedy.
