Cockaigne to “rise from the ashes” for 2018-19 opening

By Doug Waltman and Greg Schmid

On December 6, 2017, sale docu- ments were finalized to complete the sale of Cockaigne Ski Resort in Cherry Creek, NY to an LLC owned by Adam Pirtz and Isaac Gratto. The sale was facilitated by the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency, which lent the LLC $500,000 over 20 years at 4% interest. Pirtz and Gratto, who were ski patrollers at Peek’n Peak, plan to rebuild the lodge and be ready to open for the 2018-19 ski season. We’re all old enough to remember Cockaigne Ski Resort.
