Goal

The Family Hike is an event designed to give scouts the opportunity to earn their way to day camp or resident camp in the while at the same time promoting physical fitness and citizenship.

Pledges

Participating scouts will seek pledges from friends, family, and neighbors to participate in the family hike. Scouts should receive the money before the date of the hike so that the unit coordinator may settle all payments the day of the hike with a check made payable to Daniel Webster Council from the unit. The will keep 75% of all pledges received to use towards one of the Daniel Webster Councils long term summer camping opportunities; either day camp or resident camp. This program is open to all registered Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, and Venturer’s.

Registration

Please register your unit for the event by March 1 st either through your District Family Hike Chair or at www.nhscouting.org/familyhike

Program

On the morning of your district Family Hike, all participating youth and leaders should be wearing either their field uniform or your unit’s activity uniform; everyone should be wearing the same uniform. At the starting point of the hike, the unit Family Hike Coordinator will register the unit and submit the unit settlement form, the district copies of the youths' pledge forms, and one unit check for the 25% commission.
