That same season, the 29:10...............Time of Possession. .............. 31:06 SAU football team became involved with the Team IMPACT program which matches courageous kids with life-threatening and chronic illnesses with college athletic teams. In 2016, Chavous built the framework for a winning program in his fi rst full season as head coach. In 2015, Chavous coached the Falcons for the fi nal eight games of the season on an interim basis. He guided the Falcons to their only victory of the season, a 31-24 win over crosstown rival Shaw University on Nov. 7, 2015. Chavous has been a member of the SAU football program for six seasons, including three full seasons as running backs coach. Under his guidance, standout tailback Roderick Davenport II became the University’s career rushing leader (modern era) in 2015, gaining 2,809 yards. Chavous was the team’s academic coordinator from 2012 to 2016. The Falcons thrived in the classroom under Chavous, winning three consecutive awards for having the highest grade point average among all CIAA football teams. In 2018, Chavous attended the NCAA Division II Identity Workshop held at the NCAA National Offi ce in Indianapolis, Ind., on June 13-15. The workshop provided educational and CIAA STANDINGS professional development for approximately 70 Division II head coaches in various Northern Division Conf. Ovr. sports. Topics included risk management, fundraising, community engagement and Bowie State 0-0 0-0 championships. All-CIAA honorable mention. #9 - DL - Tyler Trexler (So., 6-4, 265) - Expected to have a big season for the Falcons after coming off injury last season. #11 - DB - Demonte Hines (So., 5-9, 160) - Led the Falcons in interceptions (2) and pass break-ups (7) last season. #14 - QB - D.J.
