  • Brooks & Dunn Light up Faster Horses in Long-Awaited Michigan Return
(7.22.18) https://www.freep.com/story/entertainment/music/2018/07/22/brooks-dunn-faster-horses- country-music-festival-day-two/815149002/ BROOKS & DUNN LIGHT UP FASTER HORSES IN LONG-AWAITED MICHIGAN RETURN BROOKLYN — On a weekend packed with young performers and contemporary hits, it was a heritage act that brought the Faster Horses festival to a crescendo Saturday. Brooks & Dunn, playing Michigan for the first time in eight years, closed out the boozy country fest’s second day with a set of seasoned hits on the grounds of Michigan International Speedway. Landing the most successful duo in country music history was a real coup for Faster Horses and its producer, Live Nation’s Brian O’Connell: Since reuniting in 2015 after a five-year split, Brooks & Dunn have played just a handful of dates outside their ongoing Las Vegas run with Reba McEntire. Saturday’s show was their first here since July 2010 at DTE Energy Music Theatre, and came as Faster Horses marked its sixth year as Michigan’s most popular country fest and one of the biggest in the nation. Attendance figures won’t be released until Monday, but crowds appeared on par with the 40,000-plus of recent editions. “We don’t get off the couch much,” Kix Brooks said early in the set, surveying the sea of fans in front of him. “This is fun.” If the 60something Brooks and Ronnie Dunn were old hands by Faster Horses standards, their 90- minute set — full of guitars, pop hooks and commercial polish — drove home how their work helped set the stage for today’s hit country sound.

  • BUDDY HOLLY (Charles Hardin Holley) 7Th September 1936 - 3Rd February 1959 LYRICS Coordinated by Robin Dunn & Chrissie Van Varik
BUDDY HOLLY (Charles Hardin Holley) 7th September 1936 - 3rd February 1959 LYRICS Coordinated by Robin Dunn & Chrissie van Varik. Buddy Holly was born Charles Hardin Holley on 7th September 1936 in Lubbock, Texas. At a young age he learned to play guitar, fiddle and piano. He released only three albums during his short lifetime, before his untimely death in an airplane crash that fateful “day the music died”, 3rd February 1959. However, he had been a prolific writer and a couple of albums consisting of unreleased material and demo recordings were issued posthumously. Buddy Holly was one of the inaugural inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, together with The Everly Brothers. The songs are as performed in principal recordings (or demos) by Buddy Holly alone and/or with The Crickets plus those released by other artistes where Buddy was involved. Additionally included, for diehard collectors of all things Holly, are songs where lyrics refer to Buddy Holly or his songs. The bracketed date following the title denotes the year of the initial recording. Where it was difficult to detect precisely what is being sung, queries/gaps or alternative suggestions are included in blue and/or indicated by ??. Details of backing musicians are shown both for the pre and posthumous releases. Reference to The Picks 1980s/90s additional overdubs is omitted. Some very obscure titles have been discovered; information is wanted - dates and any recordings. NB: the notes are from various, sometimes contradictory, sources. In many instances Norman Petty (25th May 1927 - 15th August 1984) is included as a co-composing credit.

  • KYGO: Rocky Mountain High ACM Q&A: RAC Clark
April 14, 2014, Issue 392 ACM Q&A: RAC Clark After executive producing the 49th Annual ACM Awards and subsequent ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute To The Toops, RAC Clark is finally free to devote his full attention to the ACM’s 50th in Dallas. At least, he is after one final debriefing with us: CA: Congrats on another great show and ratings that, while down, where down from a 15-year high. What’s the inside feeling about this year’s audience? RAC: We had an amazing year last year. Having stiffer competition contributed to a bit of a downturn, but the hope is that next year’s 50th will put it back through the roof. We heard some folks in the front few rows – not to mention stylists waiting backstage – were less than pleased with The Band Perry’s opening confetti shower. How did that become part of the open? All My Friends Say: Rock The Ocean’s Tortuga Music Festival We talked about doing some big effect at the beginning and headliner Luke Bryan (c) with Rock The Ocean’s Chris Stacey (l) and Huka Entertainment’s A.J. Niland. (See story page 5.) knew it would create a hubbub, which is why we did it at the start of the show. Better to dust off at the beginning than in the middle. KYGO: Rocky Mountain High I think the effects people put a little extra in Denver radio listeners might say that Lincoln Financial’s the shot than we saw in rehearsal. I don’t KYGO is as much a part of their city as the remember it being quite that big.
