A Neuro-Educational Assessment is a highly specialized type of of your child’s complex needs. It is the nexus of a psycho-educational and neuropsychological assessment.

 A psycho-educational assessment is conducted when there are no medical/neurological concerns, but there are academic concerns. An example of when this type of evaluation is needed is when either the parent(s) or the school is concerned that the child is not progressing academically due to a learning disability or behavioral concern. 4. Provide a conceptualization or understanding of your child’s behavior concerns and formulating alternative methods for handling disruptive behaviors. 5. Detect specific areas of learning difficulties to assist teachers, parents, and the child to understand the nature of his/her learning differences. 6. Provide appropriate recommendations/intervention methods for improving academic success. 7. Make suitable recommendations of educational or behavioral interventions based on the child’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses. 8. Improve intervention considerations and needs outcome.

A Neuro-Educational Assessment is appropriate for children who require a neuropsychological evaluation (those suffering from an acquired or congenital medical/neurological disorder) in order to determine how cognitive, behavioral, and personality functioning affects the child’s learning (psycho-). Thus, a Neuro-Educational Assessment answers the following question:

How is my child’s medical/neurological condition impacting his/her ability to learn, behave, and attend to information in the academic environment?

This is a complex question that requires assessment of multiple facets of your child. It requires the interfacing of two specialized fields that are offered at NEURO-EDUCATIONAL CLINIC.
