Dear Visiting Team, Dear Visiting Team, We are pleased to welcome you to DeKalb, Illinois, home of Northern Illinois University and Huskies Stadium. We look forward to hosting your institution’s participating athletes, coaches, official representatives, and spectators on our campus during the upcoming football season. In an effort to assist you with the planning of your upcoming trip to DeKalb and to make your stay more enjoyable, please use this Visiting Team Guide as a valuable resource. Inside the guide you will find helpful information regarding game day procedures, travel amenities, and contact information for appropriate personnel. If you require special needs that have not been addressed within the guide, please give us a call a few weeks in advance so we can assist you. AD 815.752.6800 [email protected] 4 COACHES BOOTH The visiting team coaches booth is located at the North end of the Press Box Level of Huskie Stadium. The booth can accommodate 6-8 coaches. The elevator to the press box is located in the middle of the west side of Huskie Stadium, and can only be accessed by exiting the interior of the stadium. The elevator will be held with 2:00 minutes remaining in the half and at the end of the game for coaches. COACHES COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS Huskie Stadium has eight dry-pair telephone lines available for your team’s use. In addition, two ring down telephones are available. All headphone communication questions should be directed to Mike Verbic at 815-753-6684. CREDENTIALS AND PARKING PASSES Credentials will be distributed by Donna Turner, Associate Athletics Director – Athletics Communications ([email protected]) approximately 2 weeks before the game. The visiting team will receive the following credentials and parking passes: Credentials 60 Bench 10 All-Access (Athletic Administration, president, etc.) 8 Coaches’ Booth (Media) 4 Coaches’ Video (Media) Parking Passes 3 Lot 32 Parking Passes (for equipment truck, vans, and/or vehicles accompanying team escort) Will park in Lot 32 adjacent to Huskie Stadium 4 Lot 33 Parking Passes (Athletics Administration, president, etc.) Please see parking map on page 11. All additional requests for media credentials (radio, media relations, other institutional personnel) also should be submitted to [email protected]. Credentials must be displayed by all personnel other than uniformed players, cheerleaders, mascot, and band members. ELEVATOR The elevator to the press box is located in the middle of the west side of Huskie Stadium, and can only be accessed by exiting the interior of the stadium. The elevator will be held with 2:00 minutes remaining in the half and at the end of the game for coaches. 5 EQUIPMENT TRUCK PARKING The equipment truck can be parked on the South end of the Huskie Stadium in close proximity to the locker room. Game day parking is located in a parking lot directly across the street from Huskie Stadium. The equipment truck must be moved to the designated parking area 2 hours prior to game time, and can return to begin loading at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. Any accompanying vehicles must park in the designated parking lot at all times. Parking passes will be distributed and must be displayed. GAME DAY POLICE ESCORT The NIU Police Department will provide a police escort for the team on game day. The escort will meet the team at the Tollway exit at Annie Glidden Road at the time indicated on the enclosed Football Team Information Form (page 9). Please feel free to contact NIU Police Dispatch at 815-753- 1212 to confirm details and special requests. LOCKER ROOM SET UP/ACCESS The locker room is generally open the day prior to the game dependent on home soccer and other events. One large locker room is provided for coaches and athletes. On game day, the locker room will be supplied with towels, ice, game programs, and soft drinks (2 cases of bottled water and 5 cases of Gatorade). MEDICAL INFORMATION Water, cups, towels, ice bags, and biohazard supplies will be provided during practices and competition. The athletic trainer on site will also supply an AED, airway kit, spine board, splint bag, crutches and first aid kit. Tables will be provided for serving post game meals upon request. Post Game Press Conference The post game press conference is held in the academic suite of the Yordon Center at the North end of Huskie Stadium. NIU Game Management staff will drive coaches and players to the press conference, via golf cart. 6 PRE-GAME MEETING A pre-game meeting will be held 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to kick off in the Official’s Locker Room - Huskie Stadium Room #107. Attendees will include home game management, team liaisons from each institution, the game referee or his designee, public safety/security officials, clock operators, replay official and the TV liaison. The agenda will include general game management and emergency procedures. PRACTICE Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium is generally avaliable after 5 pm for visiting walk through / practice the day prior to the game. VISITING TEAM RADIO The visiting team radio booth is located on the Press Box level of Huskie Stadium at the North end. A television and stat monitor are provided. TICKET DISTRIBUTION Visiting team tickets are located in Section A of Huskie Stadium. Visiting team tickets are distributed outside Gate 1 of Huskie Stadium. A table and chair will be provided. Please refer to the stadium map on page 8. VIDEO/FILM INFORMATION Camera positions are located behind the scoreboard and on the roof at the 50 yard line. All crews must adhere and comply with NIU safety guidelines. A member of our Media Services Department will be available for the video crews to make sure they understand our safety guidelines and positions for filming.
