Sporting facilities in the area include golf courses at Weymouth and Broadstone as well as water sports available to the south along the Dorset coastline at Poole Harbour and Weymouth Bay. Communications in the area include the A31 to the south at Bere Regis and there are mainline railway stations available at Dorchester or Sherborne, both with a regular service to London Waterloo. The area is also well served by independent schools at Bryanston, Clayesmore, Knighton House, Hanford, Sherborne, Leweston, Canford and Milton Abbey. Directions From Dorchester take the A35 on to the Puddletown by-pass, turn left at the Blandford turning and next left at the roundabout. Follow the signposts to Cheselbourne, proceed through this village and then on to Melcombe Bingham. Proceed through Melcombe Bingham and into Ansty taking the turning on the right before the Fox Inn into Aller Green Lane. The cottage is situated on the left hand side after about 50 yards. This report will be used as part of the evidence base in the production of the Council’s Core Strategy. 1.3 This supporting document aims to generate options for the identification of sustainable settlements. These towns and villages will be the focus for future development and will be shown with a settlement boundary in the Council’s Core Strategy. 1.4 This report serves as only a part of the evidence base which will inform the production of the Council’s Core Strategy. Details of local taxi companies are available on our website. A buffet supper will be provided from 19:00 in the Abbot’s Hall. Registration will close strictly at 20:00 when we will have a course meeting in the theatre. When you arrive, please leave your luggage in your vehicle before registering. Registration takes place in the King’s Room, which will be signposted from the front of the mansion building. After receiving your room keys, staff will direct you to your room. The main school reception phone number is 01258 880484 and this is manned during office hours. Out of hours calls are diverted to the duty caretaker. Accommodation We are making use of all the accommodation spaces in the school, including within the mansion building and Tregonwell/Damer houses which are by the entrance to the school. You will be directed to your room after registration in the King’s Room. All bedding and towels are provided, although you may wish to bring a towel if you intend to swim. There are no laundry facilities available. Please note that you will be residing in school boarding accommodation so bear this in mind and consider bringing a bedside light if you will need one.
