A.B.A.T.E. of KANSAS, Inc., is accepting résumé’s for the position of Lobbyist. This position is a paid position under a 2-year contract. Richard Harrison In Memoriam

He was born on November 21, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas the son of Harley Binns and Marguerite Buckley. He was later adopted by Gerald and Grace (Debey) Harrison. Richard enlisted into the United States Navy on Sept. 18, 1964. He was an electrician specialist until his honorable discharge on Oct. 26, 1970. Richard was a maintenance electrician for 35 years at McCall Pattern in Manhattan, Kansas until his retirement. He loved his “family” which not only referred to his relatives but his Run for the Wall family, church family, and acquaintances whom he was willing to give all of himself without question. He Mary Walters had an optimistic positive attitude and was willing to lend an ear if someone needed to talk. Richard was united in marriage to Margi Machin in Manhattan, Kansas. Two sons were born to this union: Conn and Curt. They later divorced. He was then united in marriage to Merdith Howell and welcomed her daughter Tamara into his life. They were later divorced. He participated in the Veteran’s Run for the Wall event for almost 20 years. Memberships include being the Kansas State Coordinator of the Run for the Wall from 2000 – 2007, ABATE of Kansas, The Patriot Guard, Harley Owners Group, a POW & MIA Awareness Ride from LA to Washington, DC. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 17 Manhattan, KS. Mary "Betsi" Bess Walters, 77, of Lawrence, KS passed away Survivors include his sons: Conn Harrison and his wife June 1, 2016. Betsi was born in Tipton, IN on May 28, 1939 to the Diannah of Manhattan and Curt Harrison and his wife Rosie late Dane and Paula Stroup. Betsi was a motorcycle enthusiast and of Encinitas, CA; step daughter: Tamara Fann-Trickle of avid lover of art in all it's forms. She is preceded in death by her Manhattan; foster son: Robert Bailey of Wetmore, Kansas whom late husband, Glenn Walters, her son, Dane Silence and her sister he welcomed into his family and treated as one of his own; 7 Patricia Johnson Clark. Survivors include her four children, Torin grandchildren: Justin, Richard, Bre, Levi, Brittany, Danielle, and (Sue) Silence, Joshua (Melanie) Walters, Serenity Walters and Dakota; 2 great-grandchildren along with numerous siblings, Paula (Daron) Walters Shuler. Grandchildren; Ashley Silence, Ben cousins, other family members and many friends.
