Greetings Nighthawk Nation!

Spring Sports Dinner and Meeting On Wednesday, February 27, Nighthawk Nation will host the Spring Sports Kickoff for Parents/Guardians and student-athletes. The evening will include an address from former Denver Nuggets Head Coach, George Karl and an Olive Garden $10 pasta buffet. The evening promises to be fun-filled and informative. It will also provide an opportunity to mingle with coaches and parents from other programs. There will be a review of Nighthawk guidelines and expectations, sport-specific team meetings, and individual student-athlete and coach pictures for the spring program. The event will take place in Building 1 and will begin at 5:30 pm.

Now that an infrastructure has been created, it is important to begin conversations with our Nighthawk student-athletes about commitment and necessary ingredients to build a championship program. It will be important for our kids to get in the weight room and build muscle to gain strength and prevent injury. I am looking forward to the day when our weight room no longer smells brand new. Championships are built in the off season and it is important for student-athletes to balance academics with training, work, social time, etc.

Finally, now that efforts have been streamlined for apparel, we will be able to offer an online store for each sports program, prior to the season. The access code will be shared and the store will be available for only one week to ensure quick turnaround. A very special thanks to Northfield Foundation Apparel Chair, Tara Garfield, for her tireless effort in resuscitating apparel and design.

As always, I want to reiterate my deep appreciation for the high level of parent support. The athletic sub-committee has a representative for each sports program and parents/guardians are creating unique ways to fundraise, build team cohesiveness, and school pride. Hoping to see a large crowd on Wednesday, February 27.
