1991 No. 316 ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES Roads (Speed Limit) (No. 3) Order () 1991

Made 22nd July 1991 Coming into operation 2nd September 1991 To be laid before Parliament under paragraph 3(3) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974

The D~partment of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 2(2)(a) and 50(4) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(b) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order: Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Roads (Speed Limit) (No. 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1991 and shall come into operation on 2nd September 1991. Increase of speed limit 2. In relation to th~ roads and lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 the rate of speed fixed by Article 50(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 shall be increased to 40 miles per hour. Revocations 3. The provisions described in Schedule 2 are hereby revoked.

This Order increases from 30 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour the speed limit on the roads and lengths of road specified in Schedule 1.

Schedule 2 makes certain revocations. The effect of the revocation of the , items mentioned in paragraphs (a), (d) and (h) of that Schedule is to reduce the speed limit on the lengths of road to which those items relate from 40 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour.

The lengths of road to" which paragraph (b), item Nos. 2 and 3 of paragraph (e), and paragraph if) of Schedule 2 relate are now comprised in greater lengths of road described in item Nos. 10, 18,32 and 33 respectively of Schedule 1.

The length of road to which paragraph (c) of Schedule 2 relates has been renamed" and is redescribed in item Nos. 27 and 30 of Schedule 1.

The length of road to which item No. 9 of paragraph (e) of Schedule 2 relates is now partially comprised in the length of road described in item No. 26 of Schedule 1. The effect of the revocation on the length of road not so comprised is to make it a de-restricted road.

The length of road to which paragraph (g) of Schedule 2 relates is now partially comprised in the length of road described in item No. 28 and partially in the greater length of road described in item No. 29 of Schedule 1.

The lerigth of road to which paragraph (i) of Schedule 2 relates is now partially comprised in the lengths of road described in item Nos. 3,4 and 5 of Schedule 1. The effect of the revocation on the length of road not so comprised is to reduce the speed limit on that length of road from 40 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour.
