Billy Taylor (Defensive Coordinator) played outside linebacker for ETSU from 1983-87 and was on the Buccaneer coaching staff from 1997-2003 ... Scott Brumett (Defensive Line) was an outside linebacker from 2001-03, Mike Rader (Wide Receivers) played for the Bucs from 1998-2002 and was a graduate assistant in 2003, and Erik Losey (Offensive Line) wore the Blue and Gold in 2002-03.

ROSTER BREAKDOWN The 2015 ETSU football roster features 107 players ... 70 players (65-percent) are from Tennessee, while the remaining players are from North Carolina (nine), Georgia (six), Virginia (five), South Carolina (five), Ohio (four), Florida (four), Alabama (two), Mississippi (one) and West Virginia (one) ... COACH TORBUSH AND COACH O’CAIN REUNITE Head Coach Carl Torbush turned to a familiar face and friend when it came to filling ETSU’s offensive coordinator position as Mike O’Cain was named the OC for the Bucs on May 15, 2014 ... O’Cain, who was a head coach at NC State when Torbush was the head coach at UNC, served as Torbush’s offensive coordinator at UNC in 2000 ... Following his stint at UNC with Torbush, O’Cain served as the offensive coordinator at Clemson (2001-04), quarterbacks coach at Virginia Tech (2006-12) and offensive coordinator at James Madison (2013).

TYROD TAYLOR EARNS WIN IN FIRST NFL START ETSU offensive coordinator Mike O’Cain was Virginia Tech’s quarterbacks coach from 2006-12, and coached Tyrod Taylor from 2007-10 ... Taylor had a decorated career with the Hokies as he was named 2010 ACC Player of the Year after guiding Virginia Tech to a perfect 8-0 record in conference play ... Taylor was also a two-time MVP in the ACC Championship game (2008 and 2010) and led the Hokies to bowl wins against Cincinnati (2009 Orange Bowl) and Tennessee (2009 Chick-fil-A Bowl) ... Taylor was then drafted in the sixth round by the Baltimore Ravens and earned a Super Bowl ring when the Ravens defeated San Francisco ... Following his stint with the Ravens, Taylor was signed by the Buffalo Bills this past March and was named the Opening Day starting quarterback heading into week one... In his first career NFL start, Taylor earned the win for Buffalo, beating the Indianapolis Colts 27-14 ... He went 14-for-19 and threw for 195 yards with one touchdown.

Red-shirt sophomore defensive lineman Royce Turnbull’s father (Renaldo) was the 14th overall draft pick in 1990 by the New Orleans Saints ... After a playing linebacker for the Saints from 1990-96, the 1993 Pro Bowl selection was signed by the Carolina Panthers in 1997, where he became teammates with Muhsin “Moose” Muhammad ... Ironically, Muhammad’s daughter, Raven Dean, is a 6-1 freshman forward for Coach Ezell and the Buccaneer women’s basketball team.

BURWIL CONSTRUCTION CO. NAMED CONTRACTOR FOR NEW ETSU FOOTBALL STADIUM Following standard state bid procedures, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced that BurWil Construction of Bristol, Tenn., has been selected as the construction manager and general contractor for the new ETSU football stadium project, which is scheduled to begin later this year ... The new, on-campus stadium – which will be located on property between the Basler Center for Physical Activity and the ETSU Physical Plant Building – will be built in two phases and will ultimately cost an estimated $26.615 million ... The new stadium is scheduled to open for the 2017 football season ... BurWil Construction Co. has been a long-standing partner with ETSU, having completed multiple construction projects on campus. A few of those projects have included the Buc Ridge Apartments Phase III, the Pharmacy School Building No. 7, Married Student Housing and renovations to the College of Medicine Building 119.

GENERAL SHALE ANNOUNCES SUPPORT OF STADIUM This past May, General Shale publicly announced its contribution of a half-million bricks to the program’s new football stadium ... To signify General Shale’s contribution, company officials presented an oversized brick engraved with the university’s logo to ETSU head football coach Carl Torbush ... As part of a multi-year ongoing campus-wide enhancement, ETSU has worked directly with General Shale on recent building projects for their brick and other masonry needs ... Additional ETSU projects that have used General Shale materials include the student parking garage, the ETSU Foundation Carillon and Alumni Plaza, the ETSU & General Shale Natural History Museum and Visitor Center at the Gray Fossil Site, and the future fine and performing arts center ...
