Barrera Set to Make Main Events Debut Friday in Philly

Philadelphia, PA: Cuban-born Sullivan Barrera (10-0-0, 6 KOs) is set to make his Main Events’ debut on the Cunningham-Mansour undercard Friday night at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, PA. Barrera will take on 32 year old Larry Pryor of Washington, D.C. for six rounds.

Barrera, also 32, turned pro in 2009 and is undefeated in ten professional fights. Sullivan did not fight for almost two years but came back strong with a sixth round unanimous decision victory over Joell Godfrey on December 14, 2013 in his adopted hometown, , FL. According to Sullivan’s trainer, Milton LaCroix, “With Godfrey he was ring rusty but he felt ok. He was rusty, he beat him but he should have knocked him out. He didn’t but we will settle for the win. He got the decision and that is what matters.”

Sullivan and his team know very little about Pryor but LaCroix said it does not matter, “We have never seen his opponent however we are ready to fight anybody. I feel like this is the start of something good that is about to happen. We are going to go all out. We are taking no prisoners.”

Luis Molina, Sullivan’s manager said, “We thank Main Events for the opportunity and hopefully together we can take it to the top.” Sullivan’s sentiment was similar, “I am very happy and very excited. I thank Main Events for this opportunity to let people know who Sullivan Barrera is.” He added, “I feel I am the best in the light heavyweight division, the problem I’ve faced is that I wasn’t given the opportunity to compete. Now that Main Events will give me the opportunity I will be able to show my talent.” Barrera trained for this fight at Punch Gym in Miami, FL. LaCroix said, “Training camp has been fantastic. He feels fantastic, he just can’t wait to fight. He has been waiting a long time for this and now it is finally here. He feels good.”
