Mrs. Dockins is one of the teachers who is retiring this Reporting year. At the end of her career, she has taught a total of 31 years, Staff 26 of those years she spent at LCHS. After she officially retires, she plans on relaxing and cleaning her house. She also wants to spend more time with her children, such as attending the World Rachel Barnett Games for her daughter Lee, and making more trips to watch her Jacqueline Belcher son, John Logan, play baseball. Gage: The Builder By: Kelsey Coleman With the onset of summer, Gage Vanderpool, a sophomore at Logan County High School, has constructed the quintessential outdoor chair for the season. He con- structed this difficult piece – an Adirondack chair – in woodshop with Mr. Scott. Gage began to enjoy working with wood when this class began in spring semester. He enjoys making unique pieces because it gives him something to do, and he loves to see the fin- ished product. Gage used a pattern to design the chair, and he said it was not difficult to follow. He used measuring and calculations to ensure that the chair would turn out cor- rectly. Gage has enjoyed this class, and he has worked hard to do a superb job on this wonderful summer project. Chacos Trends By: Madison Jernigan The sun has made its presence noticeable in Kentucky. With the tempera- ture heading up to 80 and 90 degrees, it is time for students to say goodbye to boots and tennis shoes, and hello to the newest summer shoes: Chacos. Chacos are a comfortable and stylish pair of sandals. The unique crisscross straps are what make these shoes stand out. They are made for both men and women and come in nearly every color, including rainbow. Chacos are perfect for going on a hike, a run, or just going to school. Many students at Logan County have already taken part in making this the newest trend by showing off their unique pair of Chacos. These shoes can be purchased at many shoe or outdoor stores such as Tradehome or Gander Mountain and will prove to be incredibly versatile by making a fashion statement and being a comfortable pair of workout shoes.
