For «V1» har bate tre ratt og ni knap- per der f.eks. CoolPix P7100 har hele syv ratt og ti knapper for direkte kontroll. Dette passer kanskje den som ikke er særlig inter- essert i å fotografere, men det oppleves som en stor begrensning for den som vil fotogra- fere mer bevisst at du må inn i menyer nes- ten uansett hvilke innstillinger du vil gjøre. Her har Nikon gjort samme feil overfor de bevisste fotografene som Sony med den før- ste utgaven av sine NEX-kameraer. Kameraet føles ellers tungt og meget solid, med god bruk av lettmetall og hard plast. Overflaten på den sorte utgaven er matt og gripesikker, men kameraet mangler et skik- kelig grep. Nikon 1 V1 har, i motsetning til sin rimeligere slektning J1, en innebygd elek- tronisk søker med dioptijusterbart okular. Sø- keren er blant de beste i sitt slag, og kan best sammenliknes med Panasonic og Olympus’ beste 1,4 Mp-søkere, men måler seg ikke helt med Sonys nye 2,4 Mp OLED-søker. Egenskaper og funksjoner Grunninnstllingene til V1 er altså såre enkle. Programrattet, som kunne hatt god plass til individuelt valg av de tre automatikkty- pene (PSA) og manuell eksponering (M), har bare fire valg: Videofilm-modus, stillbilde- modus, «Smart Photo»-modus og «Motion Snapshot»-modus. Videofilm- og stillbildemodus beskriver seg selv, men man må altså inn i menyene for å skifte mellom ulike eksponeringsmodi. Smart Photo innebærer at kameraet tar et trettitalls bilder i hurtig rekkefølge før og etter at du trykker ned utløseren, og velger ut en favoritt og fire kandidater ved analyse av ansiktsgjen- kjennelse, skarphet m.m.
