Cerebos’ Launches Advanced New Factory

Strong Growth Trends Trigger Expansion To Support BRAND'S®

[ Pinthong, Thailand – 8th August 2008 ] At the groundbreaking ceremony for its new factory in Pinthong Industrial Park, Thailand; at what Asians consider the most auspicious time this century; Cerebos Pacific Limited underlined the Group’s strong growth trend in the health supplements arena in . The new and technologically advanced factory, which would operate in addition to the current Laem Chabang factory, is designed to support 5 times the current BRAND’S® production volume in Phase 1 with a staff of about 160 initially.

The groundbreaking ceremony which commenced at 8:08 am sharp with Buddhist and Brahmin monks conducting ritual prayers and blessings, concluded with President & CEO Mr Eiji Koike knocking in the first pile. Said Mr Koike: “Last August we announced plans to expand our research and development facilities in . Astute analysts would have also realised that sales for BRAND’S® had been growing at double digits year on year. Cerebos is now in position to move forward rapidly and aims to become one of the biggest health supplements and companies in the Asia Pacific region. It should come as no surprise that we are building additional capacity to cater to the sales growth.”

Dr Lackana Leelayouthayotin, CEO of Cerebos Thailand & Southeast Asia revealed that: “In addition to the substantial local market, Thailand operations supply all the export markets for BRAND®. The current growth in business, especially in Thailand, for BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken, Bird’s Nest and Veta products has been impressive. ( FY 2006/7: Sales +18% and profit +22% in Baht terms).

With this in mind, Cerebos began planning for this additional factory, which is targeted to be in full operation by November 2009, to house its BRAND'S® Bird’s Nest and Veta production as well as its patented triple safety feature bottle cap. The existing Laem Chabang factory will manufacture BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken exclusively and also increase production capacity in line with the growth projections.

The approximately S$75 million development will also provide various opportunities for the local Pinthong community including jobs, education and tourism, as we plan to conduct factory visits and other community programmes. ”

The new Pinthong factory promises to be aesthetically pleasing and contemporary, incorporating environmentally friendly and energy saving designs to help minimise waste and impact. It will

1 comply with stringent ISO 14001 environmental standards and also with latest international requirements for export to EU, Canada and USA.

Technologically the factory will employ advanced robotics systems to boost efficiency. In particular it will operate highly sophisticated cap making machines which can put together 3 key materials in one go, to produce BRAND’S® proprietary triple safety bottle cap. It would also have the first fully automated bird’s nest filling system incorporating the world’s largest bird’s nest sorting, filling and production lines.
