Football Accolades Varsity football head coach Ken Sears and senior quarterback Ricky Wendel received hon- ors during the first weeks of the prep football sea- son this year. Wendel was the first NewOrleans.com Sports, Quarterback Club, WGSO- 990 AM and R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Prep Player of the Week.Coach Sears was selected as the NFL Coach of the Week for south Louisiana.St. Paul’s received a $1,000 donation to the school in his name.Additionally, junior de- fensive end Houston Bates was the WWL Prep Player of the Week for week 2 of the prep season and Wendel and senior defensive end/linebacker Nick Logarbo were named Friday Night Football Scholar Athletes of theWeek. The student body celebrated the school’s birthday on September 16 during a break after first period classes. The retired brothers served snacks to the students’delight on the 97th anniversary of the school. 2 Life Skills On September 24th, Brother Gale Condit organized a “Life Skills”event, sponsored by the Renaissance Board. At this event, speakers from the local business community came to talk with the seniors about such concepts as credit cards, debt management, investments, time management, cash management, and interviews. The speakers, which included Eric Dunavant, Sally Kingston, Terry Fitzpatrick, Brad Schroeder, and Dian Lusher, educated the boys in areas that are vital to surviving post-collegiate life. Students had an opportunity to interact informally with the speakers during a pre- seminar breakfast and at lunch time. NHS Induction W The Bro. Charles Crouzet Chapter on the National Honor Society received 47 new members into its ranks on Thursday, September 24. The NHS Induction ceremony was held in Our Lady of Peace Chapel, and was led by current National Honor Society president Brian Rozycki, who welcomed the new members and their parents. Bro. Rich Kovatch, moderator, led the induction ceremony, which stressed National Honor Society principles of Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. Bro. Ray Bulliard, Principal, added congratulatory remarks, and told the story of Bro.Charles Crouzet, one of the Christian Brother NHS Officers: Jared Coe, Nick Logarbo, Jeff founders of Saint Paul’s, after whom the school chapter Coote, Bryan Rozycki, Scott Mayer, Christian of NHS is named.
