The epicenter of the folk, folk rock and singer songwriter movements, the Village, with its cafes and coffee houses, shaped one of the most important periods in American music. LEGENDS OF FOLK: THE VILLAGE SCENE features rare and stunning performances by Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Peter, Paul & Mary, Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Richie Havens, The Lovin’ Spoonful, The Mamas and the Papas, Don McLean, Neil Diamond, and others singing their best loved songs and more. Directed and produced by four- time Emmy Award winner Jim Brown, LEGENDS OF FOLK: THE VILLAGE SCENE is part of special programming premiering on PBS stations in August 2011(check local listings). Capturing not only the magic of the music but its inextricable link to the downtown New York Village locale, LEGENDS OF FOLK: THE VILLAGE SCENE features newly filmed interviews with Peter Yarrow, Tom Paxton, Michelle Phillips, Don McLean, John Sebastian, Maria Muldaur and John Cohen.
