Tuesday 8th 10-12pm Private Prayer at St Michael & All Angels, Thursley Revd Hannah writes: Readings - Sunday 29th November Advent is the time of waiting and hoping and longing for the promises of God to be fulfilled. This year there is a real sense of waiting and longing. We are First Reading Isaiah 64: 1-9 waiting to see if we will be able to hug our loved ones this Christmas. We are waiting to find out what the restrictions might be regarding how many people Second Reading Psalm 80: 1-8, 18-20[or 80. 1-8] can gather together. I am concerned that as a society we are longing so much for short term gains, being able to gather with our families, that we risk Gospel 1 Corinthians 1: 3-9 long term losses. As a family we are erring on the side of caution, so for only the third time in my life, I won’t be seeing my sister on Christmas day. Amidst Collect the waiting and longing of Advent we can lose sight of the hope that Almighty God, as your kingdom dawns, turn us from the darkness of sin to the Christmas offers. We need to remember that God came down, to a broken and hurting world, and stepped in to the mess with love, hope, light and light of holiness, that we may be ready to meet you in our Lord and Saviour, peace. Jesus Christ. Amen Let us continue to pray for the Nation each day as encouraged by our Archbishops see www.churchofengland.org/PrayerForTheNation Advent Readings Ian and Sara Wilson-Soppitt have kindly agreed to record readings throughout Advent from the 2nd December and we will be uploading Day of the week Daily theme Sunday Family, friends and loved ones them to our YouTube channel.
