Air E-ticketing Policy - 01 June 08

As you are aware, IATA has advised that all paper ticket stocks from BSP Agents worldwide, will be withdrawn as of 31 May 2008. NACIL dba is committed to follow the worldwide industry standard of 100% e-ticketing.

This document has been prepared to provide guidance on the use and issuance of Air India (AI- 098) e- tickets on and after 1 June 2008, when paper tickets are eliminated from IATA BSPs.

1. Issuance of e-tickets

With effective from 1 June 2008, it is imperative that paper tickets must not be issued on BSP neutral paper ticket stock when selecting Air India (AI-098) as the Validating Carrier.

An exception is sales in ARC in the USA, where the option of issuing paper documents remains. This measure does not change the issuance of paper documents at AI offices and this will remain until further notice. SSR FOID for issuance of AI-098 e-tickets has now been made OPTIONAL.

2. Entire AI network is e-ticket eligible

We are pleased to inform the entire travel industry that all sectors of AI network are eligible for e-tickets.

11. Infant e-tickets

AI system has the capability to issue Infant e-tickets for itineraries involving entire AI sectors on the ET. INF on interline itinerary is subject to capability of IET partner to support INF IET.

12. Procedure to be followed when e-ticket cannot be issued

When a 098 validated paper ticket must be issued by a BSP Agency as of 1 June, 2008, NACIL dba AI will assist with the transaction by way of V-MPD.

Agents may issue V-MPDs (the information will be automatically forwarded to the e-mail address defined in the BSP link) and the Air India offices will issue paper tickets on AI dedicated ticket stock. V-MPD is the electronic document which will replace the MPD.

13. Procedure to be followed in case an itinerary exceeds 16 segments

Currently the industry only supports a maximum of 4 conjunction ET booklets of 4 coupons each amounting to a maximum of 16 coupons per ET. However if the itinerary exceeds 16 coupons the remaining itinerary would have to be booked as a separate PNR and issued as a separate ET

14. Procedure to be followed in case a journey requires open segments within the itinerary.

AI currently supports Open segments on e-tickets. But in case of Interline segments the dependency is on the interline partners capability to issue e-tickets on open segments (listed in the above tables). At least one segment with the Interline partner must be confirmed.

15. Procedure to be followed when an airport is not equipped to handle check-in of e- tickets.

All airports on AI network are e-enabled and have the capability to check-in e-tickets.

16. Itinerary involving Rail (Deutsche Bahn, etc).

AI is in process of testing IET with AccessAir/Deutche Bahn (9B/2A) and the same will be implemented shortly.

17. Procedure for Revalidation/Reissue of e-tickets

Travel Agents in India cannot Revalidate / Reissue e-tickets. They must contact the local AI offices.

18. Procedures for collection of Penalty fees

Travel Agents in India must contact the local AI office for Re-issuance of the e-tickets with the penalty collection.

19. Backup plans to handle fight delays/misconnections or system failures in the case of interline journeys

The Interline e-ticket General Business rules define a chapter on irregular operations which are adopted by the partner airlines.

In case of flight delays, misconnections etc, the operating carrier will adopt one of the following methods

- Re-issue the e-ticket to paper ticket and endorse the same to a different airline.

- Issue a FIM (Flight Interruption Manifest) to the alternate carrier

- Push the electronic coupon to another partner airline with whom an IET exists.

Thank you for your continued support of NACIL dba Air India.
