1. The Wild plays its final contest of a four-game, seven-day road trip Saturday. It also marks the last game in a stretch where Minnesota plays 10 games in 19 days before Christmas Break (Dec. 5-23) – and the seventh road game in that 10-game stretch.

2. Saturday, the Wild finishes its fifth of 15 sets of back-to-back games this season. Minnesota is 1-4-0 on the first night of play and 2-2- 0 in the second of back-to-back games this season. The Wild played 14 sets of back-to-back games last year, posting a 7-5-2 record on the first night of play and going 7-4-3 on the second night of action.

3. Minnesota has earned at least one point in 14 of its last 21 games (13-7-1) since Nov. 9 – T-2nd in wins and T-3rd in points amongst NHL teams in that span.

4. The Wild ranks second in the NHL with 567 blocked shots in 35 games this season. Minnesota is on pace for 1,328 blocked shots, just shy of its franchise-record 1,347 blocked shots in 2011-12. Jonas Brodin leads the Wild with 74 blocked shots – T-11th amongst NHL players.

5. Minnesota has been perfect on the penalty kill in five of its last six games, going 24-of-26 (92.3%) on the PK in that span since Dec. 12. The Wild ranks third the NHL with an 83.8% success rate on the penalty kill this season (114-of-136), leading the NHL on home ice with a 94.3% success rate (50-of-53). Minnesota has been shorthanded 136 times this season – T-2nd most in the NHL – while having 103 power-play opportunities – fourth-fewest in the NHL.

He ranks third on the Wild in assists and T-3rd in points, leading Wild forwards with 19:35 TOI/game.

9. Eric Staal has eight points (4-4=8) in the last seven games and 23 points (10-13=23) in the last 23 games since Nov. 6 – ranked T- 10th in scoring amongst NHL players in that span. The 33-year-old leads the Wild in points (31), shots (109), shorthanded goals (2) and multi-point games (8) in 35 games this season, ranking T-1st on the club in goals (14) and assists (17), and T-3rd in plus/minus (+5). With goals against Carolina and Vegas earlier this season, he has scored a career goal against all 31 NHL franchises.

10. Matt Cullen skated in his 1,400th career NHL game Friday – the 38th player in NHL history to skate in 1,400 games, the fourth American and second Minnesotan to hit the milestone, and the fourth active player to hit the mark. He sits at 696 career points (250- 446=696). Cullen is the second-oldest player in the NHL (Jagr) and celebrated his 41st birthday last month by becoming the oldest U.S.-born player to register a goal and assist in the same game. Cullen has seven points (2-5=7) in his 20th NHL season after agreeing to a one-year contract with Minnesota on Aug. 16. The native of Virginia, Minn., previously played three seasons with Minnesota (2010- 13) and is a three-time Stanley Cup Champion, winning with Pittsburgh each of the last two seasons and alongside teammate Eric Staal with Carolina in 2006.

11. Alex Stalock is 4-3-0 with a 2.53 GAA, a .922 SV% and one shutout in his last seven games (six starts) since Dec. 10. He’s gone 7-7-1 with a 2.65 GAA and .917 SV% in 16 games (14 starts) since joining the Wild in 2016-17. On Dec. 14, he became the first Minnesota-born player to post a shutout with the Wild.

12. Minnesota has posted five consecutive wins in games that go beyond regulation since Nov. 24, including four OT/shootout victories in its last 10 games overall. Minnesota’s success comes after it dropped five straight post-regulation decisions dating back to last season, including four overtime losses. Since the beginning of 3-on-3 overtime in 2015-16, the Wild is 8-17 in OT and 8-5 in shootouts. In that span, Matt Dumba has scored three of Minnesota’s eight overtime goals (Granlund, Koivu, Niederreiter, Spurgeon and Zucker each have one).
