Renovations to Niagara College’s Library and Learn- ing Commons area will bring more seating options for a better studying experi- ence. Construction work to improve the Eva M. Lewis Library and Learning Commons at the Welland campus started on Dec. 4. “We’ll have redesigned space and brand-new fur- nishings – all more suited to the work of 21st century students. Our high levels of com- mitment to supporting our students will not change – their success is our success,” said Cynthia Williamson, manager at the Welland Campus Library and Learning Commons in a press release. Construction is expected to last until spring of 2019. The renovation will bring more seating for students and more work areas for students doing individual and group work. It is the last week in school before the end of the semester and many Niagara College students are drown- ing in assignments. Niagara College’s Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership with the help of NCSAC held an event against procrastination on Dec. 4 at the Welland campus and on Dec. 6 at Niagara-on-the-Lake cam- pus to help students catch up with their studies. “Studies have shown that if you study for 30 minutes and you really dedicate the 30 minutes to studying, then take a 10 to 15 minute break, and then go back to studying, and repeat that kind of timetable you retain more information and you’re not as stressed,” said Event Co-ordinator Dana Brown. All activities at the event were dedicated to help students have the best studying experience.
