Dixon had an illustrious career in law enforcement, having started as a police officer with the City of Atlanta in 1974, before eventually pursuing a law degree. Throughout his career, the highly decorated servant received accolades from Atlanta PD, the Fulton County District Attorney’s office and the F.B.I. College Park Mayor Bianca Motley Broom expressed warm admiration, stating Dixon was “a valued member of the College Park family and community.” Dixon resided in College Park, and became City Solicitor in 2003. “His depth of knowledge was only surpassed by his kind and generous spirit; our community has suffered a tremendous loss,” Mayor Motley Broom added. College Park Solicitor Al Dixon Former Fulton County District Attorney Lewis Slaton praised Dixon for his work with a multi-agency task force to stop illegal firearms trafficking throughout the northeastern United States.
