VIII STRATHCLYDE POSTGRADUATE COLLOQUIUM ON ENVIRONMENTAL LAW AND GOVERNANCE

Friday, 19 June 2020 University of Strathclyde Organised by the Strathclyde Centre for Environmental Law and Governance (SCELG)

This Colloquium provides an opportunity for Post Docs, Ph.D., MPhil and LLM students engaged in research in any area of environmental law and governance to present and discuss their work, or a part of it, in a supportive environment. It also provides an opportunity for environmental research students in general (who may not be presenting) to meet and network with other peers and experts working in this area of law.

The 2020 Colloquium will generally follow the successful format of the previous seven editions, when researchers from a wide range of countries presented their research and leading environmental law academics, SCELG members and practitioners were invited to discuss the presentations, providing presenters with insightful comments and constructive feedback.

The Colloquium invites abstracts for oral presentations. Accepted presentations will be divided into thematic sessions that will be chaired by a SCELG member and feature invited experts who will act as discussants. Each presentation will last 15 minutes followed by ample time for debate introduced by the discussant. Please note, in contrast to previous years, poster presentations will not feature at this year’s Colloquium.

Those interested in presenting should submit a 300-word abstract that provides a clear and concise overview of the intended presentation to [email protected]. We welcome abstracts in any field of environmental law and governance that touch upon one or more of the 12 areas of expertise of the SCELG (detailed on our website). Abstracts should indicate which area(s) of environmental law and governance the presentation will focus on. This year, we particularly invite abstracts in the fields of climate change and/or oceans.

The deadline for abstract submission is Tuesday, 31 March 2020. Successful applicants will be contacted by Friday, 10 April 2020. The registration deadline to attend (link below) is Wednesday, 10 June 2020. Participants are expected to cover the cost of their travel, light lunch and refreshments will be provided.
