KINGTON LANGLEY is a tithing, hamlet and ecclesiastical; parish known as Langley Fitzurse or Kington Langley, formed out of the parish of Kington St. Michael, 2 miles from and 6 from . It is in the Chippenham Division of Wilts, Union, Petty Sessional Division and County Court District of Chippenham and Diocese of Bristol. The Church of St. Peter was built in 1855, and the living is a vicarage of the net annual value of £102, in the gift of the Bishop of Bristol. There are Baptist and Primitive Methodist Chapels and a National School, and a specious Village Hall has been erected. The water supply for the village comes from Chippenham. Area, 1519 acres; rateable value, £3,527; population, 519. Letters are received through Chippenham, and are despatched at 11 a.m. and 7.15 p.m. The nearest Money Order and Telegraph Offices are at Chippenham and . Postal orders are issued here, but not paid.
