Dear Parents and Carers ACCELERATED READERS Highest number of quizzes passed this week: We have had a great week with nearly all the children on visits and such a Cober: Oliver, Jack, lot of excitement with Squashbox Theatre and Year 6 Shinty on Wednesday! Mawgan, Leo and Next week is our first camp of the year as well as another visit for Helford Polly all with 1 quiz taken and passed to an Iron Age fort. I would like to thank all our adult volunteer helpers for Lerryn: Katie 4/4 the brilliant support they offer on educational visits and in school, it really is Helford Charlotte A, Fleur, appreciated by staff and children. CAMP The year 5/6 camp trip to Treyarnon Bay starts next Monday! Children to arrive at 8.15am for a prompt departure at 8.30am. Children will return by 3.15pm on Friday 13th June. Key reminders:  Sun cream, everything clearly labelled, spare underwear, toiletries, no electronics, all medicines to be given to Dr Roberts on Monday morning, children to be responsible for their own inhalers, Monday lunch in a bag please. Any queries to Mr Hitchens please. SPORT Unfortunately we had to pull out of the Grass Track Cycling and Quad Kids events due to not enough transport being available on these days, a date change and our inset day. Y4/5 Football Fund Raising Tournament On 24th June the following children will represent us in this tournament: Joris, George, Max, Noah M, Oscar, Isaac, Harry R, Rosa, Jude, Ethan J and Jack. This is a sponsored event and the children have their permission slips and sponsor forms already. Please return both prior to the event with all sponsor monies and an indication on the form if you are available to drive our team there and back. All children will need a packed lunch on this day. Cornwall School Games We are delighted that our individual entries to the Cornwall School Games on 23rd June have been accepted and Mrs Gilbert will be taking Tilly, Ben VV, George, Ella W and Joris to compete in the Aquathlon which includes a pool swim of 400m then a run of 1500m. Good luck team! KS1 Mini Olympics This event takes place on June 20th and we will be sending two teams of ten as well as some Year 5 young leaders to help run the event. Permission slips will be sent home once the teams are decided. Castle to Castle Swim: We have several parents, a governor and a couple of members of staff who have entered the RNLI Castle to Castle Swim taking place on 8th June. This is a mile long sea swim in open water between the Castles of Pendennis and St Mawes. 400 competitors are taking part this year. If you would like to sponsor the swimmers please give donations to Mrs Beswick or put any spare change into the bucket in reception. CARN EUNY TRIP Children in Helford class are going on a trip to Carn Euny on Monday 9 June. The coach

leaves school at 9am and will return in time for the end of school. Children will need: (depending on weather) waterproofs, sun cream, hat, school uniform, drinks and packed lunch. Wellington boots are essential whatever the weather!

Anyone can help, as long as they 4 Sept Staff training day are over 8, so children may have older siblings or relatives who might be 5 Sept Staff training day willing and able to help. Horse Riding: A huge thanks to everyone who is helping with transporting the children to horse riding each week. There is a slight change of dates for the remaining 3 horse riding sessions, please make a note of them: 19 June, 26 June, and 10 July.

ST KEVERNE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT Last year we won this tournament at St Keverne and this year we hope to do the same! The tournament is on Saturday 21 June, players and parents to be there at 11.30am for a 12 noon kick off. Players will be given a permission slip next week. Parents will need to stay with their children for the tournament.

Please can children bring in coats every day, we are still experiencing some heavy showers and chilly Peripatetic music lessons days. Please note some changes for next week’s lessons: Guitar – is cancelled on Wednesday 11 June Has anyone borrowed a school ukulele or Flute, drums and keyboard – will be as normal next xylophone? Please return to school asap as Wednesday with lessons being made up at a later date to those children who will be on camp. we doing an audit of all musical instruments.
