Weekley British TREC Competition 2016 Competitors’ Information

Welcome to Central TREC Group’s TREC competition, we hope you will enjoy your weekend.

Overall arrangements for the weekend This competition will be a Level 1 and 2 affiliated British TREC competition, which offers qualifying places for both the Balanced Horse Feeds Level 1 National TREC GB Championships and the 2016 National TREC GB Championships, as well as points towards the 2016 SEIB TREC GB League.

Central TREC Group are delighted that alongside the competition we will be hosting members of the senior and young rider GB squads who will be training in all 3 phases as part of their preparations for the FITE World Championships being held in Spain in September. The squad training will run in the opposite order to the competition, with MA and PTV training on Saturday and POR training, using the POR routes, on Sunday. Please do ask any questions you may have of the Squad members or Chef d’Equipe, Dave Rogerson, they will be happy to discuss any aspects of TREC and riding internationally.

Central TREC Group is also celebrating its 5th birthday this weekend, with a party on Saturday night. The party is open to anyone, both CTG members and non members, and we hope that everyone will join in. We will also be presenting the Central Entrance PTV MA Map room to venue course TREC Group 2015-16 Winter League Tent camping prizes as area part of the evening.

Venue MA/ PTV layout warm up The venue plan is shown above, with camping and logistics [Cricket Muck items in red, Weekley Village pitch] Corralling trailer landmarks Hall within the Track through River venue in park yellow/gold and competition-related items in blue. Corralling and camping There will be sheep in the corralling field for the duration of the weekend. ALL GATES MUST THEREFORE BE KEPT CLOSED AT ALL TIMES. The corralling area is to the south (ie the right as you drive in) of the track through the park. A muck trailer will be provided, please place all muck and spare hay/haylage in it. It is advised that any hay/haylage is not left within reach of the sheep, or they may help themselves!

The corralling area is grazed by sheep so is short-cropped grass. You may wish to bring supplementary hay/ haylage for the weekend. We are unfortunately not able to make hay/haylage available, even for purchase.

Please pitch tents close to the wall against the road (near the blue tent and caravan that will already be there when you arrive). There will be a match on the cricket pitch on Sunday so the Cricket Club will need parking in the area nearest to the pitch all day.

Arrival and booking in The Village Hall will be used as a base for the judges and helpers all weekend. No access to riders until Saturday afternoon, as POR preparations will be happening in there.

Please book in at the blue tent on your arrival (up to 8pm on Friday and from 8am on Saturday) and collect your emergency number wristbands (1 each for horse and rider), meal wristband(s) and PTV numbers. Meal wristbands will be given to judges and helpers when they are briefed. Hats and body protectors should be brought for checking when booking in. Riders will also be asked to give the number for any mobile phone they are planning to carry on the POR. Level 1 riders should leave their phone turned on, but Level 2 phones must be turned off.

Toilets There will be chemical toilets in the corralling field and the camping area. There are 2 fairly basic toilets within the Village Hall but these may not be used by riders until after the POR on Saturday.

Membership of TREC GB This competition will be a Level 1 and 2 affiliated British TREC competition, which offers qualifying places for both the Balanced Horse Feeds Level 1 National TREC GB Championships and the 2016 National TREC GB Championships, as well as points towards the 2016 SEIB TREC GB League. Please note that Level 1 riders who qualify for the Level 1 Championships may join TREC GB any time up to the close of entries for the Championship if they wish to use that qualification (this is a correction from the schedule). Level 2 riders and ALL riders wishing to be awarded any League points that they may earn must be TREC GB members before the start of the event. To join TREC GB go to the website www.trecgb.com and click on Join Now.

Membership numbers for both CTG and TREC GB are shown on the start times list. If either number is not correct or is not shown for you please give in the correct one(s) when you book in on arrival. League points and qualification places will be awarded based on the numbers registered after booking in, so missing or incorrect numbers at that point will lead to forfeit of league points or qualification places earned.

Catering A packed lunch will be provided for all judges on Saturday. Please advise Helen asap of any dietary requirements via [email protected].

The Saturday evening meal and refreshments on Sunday are being provided by Geddington and Weekley PCCs, in aid of St Mary Magdalene, Geddington, and St Mary the Virgin, Weekley. If any additional tickets are required for Saturday night please email [email protected] immediately to book them. Anyone who is judging/helping on Saturday will be offered a complimentary meal ticket for Saturday night, please email Helen asap with any special dietary requirements.

Please bring with you plates, cutlery and any beverages you wish to consume (including glasses if required) on Saturday evening. The evening’s entertainments will begin at 7pm with a talk from Jackie Bennett about the GB Squad and supper will be served at 7:30pm. The CTG 2015-16 Winter League prizes will be presented after supper by our Chairman, Anna Weston. There will also be a birthday cake to celebrate the club’s 5 year anniversary.

A barbeque and home made cake stall will be available from 12noon – 5pm on Sunday, again in aid of the Geddington and Weekley churches. Judges will be offered complimentary refreshments during the day. Please do support the PCCs by buying some refreshments – Weekley church is opposite the camping field and we are keen to support the local community as much as we can. [Weekley church should be open for the whole weekend, do go and explore this beautiful building if you have the chance.]

Dogs Dogs are permitted but MUST be on a lead AT ALL TIMES. Owners of any dogs seen off the lead within the park will be required to correct this immediately.

POR The map room tent will be pitched to the east of the river. Please cross the river using the track by the Star Pond.

We do not have enough helpers to provide horse holders but there will be tie points available. If your horse will not tie up please find someone to hold it for you. Any offers to hold horses, even if only for a short while, will be gratefully received!

Level 1 and 2 rider are going through the map room at the same time (ie not all the Level 2s followed by all the Level 1s). The map room stewards will do their utmost to ensure that the correct map to each person, but they will have the Level written clearly on the top so please do say immediately if you are given the wrong one.

MA & PTV The PTV courses are being published with this competitor information so that you can print your own copy if you wish to. All obstacles are in the British TREC Rulebook (2nd edition) with the exception of Led Crater (aka Led Dip). Please read across the relevant details from the other led obstacles on the Terrain data sheet.

The aim is to build the courses before the venue is open on Friday, but if this is not possible we would be very grateful for any help to do it. Please meet at about 5:30pm near the PTV start if you are able to help build. The time limits will be set on Saturday afternoon, after the courses have been ridden by some squad members during Saturday. These time limits will be published at the Saturday night social, communicated via the guided course walk (see below) and the starter will know what the time limit is for your level.

Prospective squad members Claire Pollard, Kate Gillam and Liz Davison will be offering a guided course walk on Saturday afternoon for anyone wishing to get more information (and top tips) about PTV riding. The cost is £5 per person in aid of the GB Squad. Please meet at 5:30pm by the PTV start if you wish to join the course walk. Tack marking Izzy France will be providing a free tack marking service as part of Warwickshire Horse Watch on Sunday afternoon. Please see the noticeboard at the secretary’s area for details of times and place.

Local pubs There are various local pubs in the area that serve food. The White Lion and The Star in Geddington both serve food, but it would be worth phoning to check they are serving before setting out. The Thornhill Arms in Rushton and The Samuel Pepys in Slipton are also both good food pubs, and the Green Dragon in Brigstock serves food too (though I haven’t eaten there so I don’t know what it’s like).
