Who was Sivaji? by Govind Pansare

The nature and human civilization are facing major threat from the all grabbing and all destroying Big Capital and its global network. For their profiteering they are creating social turmoil and fratricidal war in different regions and spreading communal, racial and ethnic venoms to keep division among common people. They are backing rabid Hindutwabadi forces in escalating communal tension to diminish progressive people’s movement for achieving basic demands and rights. They are completely intolerant to any different ideas and views. Therefore stalwart scholars and social workers like Prof. Saberwal, Govind Pansare, Dr. , Prof. M. M. Kalburgi were murdered. On the other side of the border similar rabid Sunni Wahabi Islamist terrorist forces led by JMB, which is supported by BNP, Jamate Islami and a portion of Awami League and police – administration and which is sponsored by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey and some power lobbies in the USA, have started killing spree against free minders. Bloggers, Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Shias, Ahmadias, Fakirs, foreigners and common people.

Throughout his long life Comrade Govind Pansare, son of a poor marginal peasant family of , , worked for workers, youths, dalits, women etc. for their rights, emancipation, honour and decent livelihood, performed commendable works on progressive social reforms and wrote numerous popular booklets on pertinent issues and subjects for awareness generation of the common people. He wrote ‘Kaun Hay Sivaji?’ in 1988 where in a very lucid language he nicely analyzed the pro-people tolerant and composed character of people’s King Chatrapati Sivaji Bhoshle contrary to imposing aggressive war-mongering anti-Muslim and pro-Brahmin character upon him by vested interests of rabid Hindutwabadi forces. Till his demise in 2015 this booklet had 17th editions, 0.20 million copies were sold and it was translated in English and in several regional languages. You must read it. Our tribute to Comrade Govinda Pansare and solidarity to the people’s movement against superstition, black magic, male chauvinism, patriarchy, castism, communalism, religious fundamentalism, intolerance, violence, terrorism, autocracy, crony capitalism and corporate plunder.
