The Miracle of the Sun was public:On October 13, 1917, Our Lady performed a miracle witnessed by 70,000 people, including atheists, communists and anti-Catholics. Some of them converted. The 2015 Public Square Rosary Rallies will remind the person on the street that conversion is possible. 2. Reach fallen away Catholics:According to research, less than 28% of Catholics attend Mass in Canada. The Public Square Rosary is a great way to reach the 72% of non-practicing Catholics, a total of 10 million people. If they see you praying in a public place, they may be moved to become better Catholics. 3. Public prayer gets results:Pro-life Catholics have peacefully prayed the Rosary in front of abortion clinics for decades. The power of their prayer has blunted the advance of abortion. Their public prayers save lives. In fact, recent studies show that abortion clinics are closing at an astonishing rate of one per month in the US. 4. Be a Fatima apostle:Our Lord sent the apostles forth to teach all nations. Praying the Rosary in public is an excellent way to introduce others to the Catholic Faith and the Fatima message. “Now no man lighting a candle covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it upon a candlestick, that they who come in may see the light” (St. Luke 8:16). 5. Public sins require public reparation:Our culture openly flaunts sin. You hear it on public airwaves, on primetime TV, on the Internet. Laws favour abortion and sex-ed in the schools. Your Rosary Rally will be a public act of reparation for these sins hurled against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Your public Rosary will console God. At Fatima, Our Lady said to the children: “You saw hell, where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish devotion to my Immaculate Heart in the world.” 6. Will the media promote Fatima? Never! It’s up to us to promote devotion to Mary “outside the box To pray the Rosary in a public place is a powerful way to promote its recitation. Catholics must not be ashamed of their Faith. “Every one therefore that shall confess me before men, I will also confess him before my Father Who is in heaven” (St. Matthew 10:32). During public Rosary rallies already held, non-Catholics have stopped and asked for Rosaries, wanting to leam how to pray. 7. Public Rosaries in history:At the end of World War II, Communist Soviet troops occupied Vienna, Austria. They refused to leave. Yet, after massive public Rosary processions led by Fr. Petrus Pavlicek, the Communist invaders packed up and left. Large-scale public Rosaries were likewise credited for foiling a Communist takeover in Brazil in 1964. If the Rosary saved these countries, it can save Canada. 8. Duty to honour God publicly:Secularists have been attempting to drive religion and morality out of the public square. Children in public schools have been suspended, for example, when they pray grace before meals. That cannot continue! Catholics have the duty to oppose the secularist agenda. We openly honour God and respect His rights. The 2015 Public Square Rosary Crusade will make the point. 9. Preparing for Our Lady’s triumph:The Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph over evil. It is a great privilege to be among those who trust in her triumph and honour her in the public square. Imagine 100 Public Square Rosary Rallies. This noble campaign will hasten God’s victory, attract blessings on Canada, and surely strengthen every Rosary Captain and every rally participant. 10. Public prayer is powerful:In his monumental work, The Secret of the Rosary, Saint Louis Marie de Montfort states: “Public prayer is far more powerful than private prayer to appease the anger of God and call down His mercy, and Holy Mother Church, guided by the Holy Ghost, has always advocated public prayer in times of public tragedy and suffering.” □ I i Announcingthe 2015 PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY CRUSADE Canada is at a historic crossroad. Secularists are trying to push God from the pub lic square. They reject His beneficial action upon society.

After carefully examining the content of this work, which was supervised by Prof. Stefano De Fiores, I do not find in it anything contrary to the faith and morals of the Catholic Church. Moreover, I believe this work can help to effectively spread the devotion to the Most Blessed Virgin according to the writings of St. Louis Mary Grignion de Montfort and give a positive contribution on controversial topics of Mariology and eschatol- ogy concerning which there is often confusion among the faithful. Regarding the above, I grant permission to publish this book. Born in 1673 in France, Saint Louis de Montfort is best known for his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. As a seminary student he lived among the very poor in Paris and preached about the Gospel to them. He was ordained as a priest in 1700 and worked in a parish even though he wished to travel to North America to become a missionary. He longed to become a preacher so he joined the Dominicans, who were known for their preaching and for their devotion to the Rosary. He founded groups dedicated to the Rosary and led retreats inspired by a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Pope Clement XI appointed him as an Apostolic Missionary in France and he travelled throughout France preaching parish missions and leading retreats. He then founded the Company of Mary and the Daughters of Wisdom. During his travels he found time to write his well-known books: True Devotion to Mary, The Secret of Mary, and the Secret of the Rosary. • The Secret of the Rosary for Renewal and Salvation A
THE SECRET OF THE ROSARY FOR RENEWAL AND SALVATION A White Rose 1. Dear ministers of the most high God, you my fellow priests who preach the truth of God and who teach the gospel to all nations, let me give you this little book as a white rose that I would like you to keep. The truths contained in it are set forth in a very simple and straightforward manner, as you will see. Please keep them in your heart so that you yourselves may make a practice of the Rosary and taste its fruits. Please have them always on your lips too, so that you will always preach the Rosary and thus convert others by teaching them the excellence of this holy devotion. I beg of you to beware of thinking of the Rosary as something of little importance - as do ignorant people, and even several great but proud scholars. Far from being insignificant, the Rosary is a priceless treasure which is inspired by God. Almighty God has given it to you because he wants you to use it as a means to convert the most hardened sinners and the most obstinate heretics. He has attached to it grace in this life and glory in the next. The saints have said it faithfully and the Popes have endorsed it. When the Holy Spirit has revealed this secret to a priest and director of souls, how blessed is that priest! For the vast majority of people fail to know this secret or else only know it superficially. If such a priest really understands this secret, he will say the Rosary each day and will encourage others to say it.

  • Daily Saints - 7 October
Daily Saints - 7 October Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary The feast of Our Lady of the Rosary was instituted to honor Mary for the Christian victory over the Turks at Lepanto on October 7, 1571. In the 16th century, Pope Pius V was having trouble with the Ottoman Turks, who were a real danger to Christianity. After months of disagreements and bickering, he was able to unite Spain, Venice, and the States of the Church in a naval expedition to fight the Turks. The two navies met in the Gulf of Lepanto in Greece on October 7, 1571. On the same day, the Rosary Confraternity of Rome was meeting at the Dominican headquarters there. The group recited the Rosary for the special intention of the Christians at the battle. The Christians defeated the Turks in a spectacular victory and believed it was the intercessory power of the Blessed Virgin that won the victory. Pope Pius V dedicated the day as one of thanksgiving to 'Our Lady of Victory'. Pope Gregory XIII later changed the name to the feast of 'Our Lady of the Rosary'. At Belgrade, the Turks were defeated on the Feast of Our Lady ad Nives in 1716. A second victory gained that year on the Octave of the Assumption determined Pope Clement XI to command the Feast of the Rosary to be celebrated by the universal Church. Leo XIII added the invocation "Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us," to the Litany of Loretto. The development of the rosary has a long history.

  • Rosarium Virginis Mariae of the Supreme Pontiff John Paul Ii to the Bishops, Clergy and Faithful on the Most Holy Rosary
The Holy See APOSTOLIC LETTER ROSARIUM VIRGINIS MARIAE OF THE SUPREME PONTIFF JOHN PAUL II TO THE BISHOPS, CLERGY AND FAITHFUL ON THE MOST HOLY ROSARY INTRODUCTION 1. The Rosary of the Virgin Mary, which gradually took form in the second millennium under the guidance of the Spirit of God, is a prayer loved by countless Saints and encouraged by the Magisterium. Simple yet profound, it still remains, at the dawn of this third millennium, a prayer of great significance, destined to bring forth a harvest of holiness. It blends easily into the spiritual journey of the Christian life, which, after two thousand years, has lost none of the freshness of its beginnings and feels drawn by the Spirit of God to “set out into the deep” (duc in altum!) in order once more to proclaim, and even cry out, before the world that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour, “the way, and the truth and the life” (Jn 14:6), “the goal of human history and the point on which the desires of history and civilization turn”.(1) The Rosary, though clearly Marian in character, is at heart a Christocentric prayer. In the sobriety of its elements, it has all the depth of the Gospel message in its entirety, of which it can be said to be a compendium.(2) It is an echo of the prayerof Mary, her perennial Magnificat for the work of the redemptive Incarnation which began in her virginal womb. With the Rosary, the Christian people sits at the school of Mary and is led to contemplate the beauty on the face of Christ and to experience the depths of his love.

SUNDAY Noon The Angelus V. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary. R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with Thee; Blessed art thou amongst women, And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners, Now and at the hour of our death. Amen V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord. R. Be it done unto me according to thy word. Hail Mary … V. (Bowing head) And the Word was made Flesh. R. (Bowing head) And dwelt among us. Hail Mary … V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. LET US PRAY Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ Thy Son was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen. Meditation from The Secret of the Rosary by St. Louis De Montfort The word Rosary means "Crown of Roses," that is to say that every time people say the Rosary devoutly they place a crown of one hundred and fifty-three red roses and sixteen white roses upon the heads of Jesus and Mary. Being heavenly flowers, these roses will never fade or lose their exquisite beauty. Our Lady has shown her thorough approval of the name Rosary; she had revealed to several people that each time they say a Hail Mary they are giving her a beautiful rose and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses.
